In this video we take a deep look at a song I entirely missed from this year - and it's also the biggest one! "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" by Shaboozey! Check out the full song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7bQwwqW-Hc Nevin Sastry's beat breakdown video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aLPbNpevPM

Early Access: The Biggest Song of 2024 - Why it's great

this is also my first time listening to this song lol more, like you said, mumford and sons-ish than i’d expected which was interesting! i’m such a sucker for (relevant) sounds in the background of songs so i do wish the bar noises were a little more prominent but oh well🤷🏼‍♀️ super cool hearing Nevin Sastry break it down like that! and while it’s probably not something i’d personally put on but i can already feel how much “oh my, good lord” is going to be stuck in my head🥲

I’ve listened to this several times now and have sent the YouTube link to my son-in-law. This is so interesting and I love your excitement !

I’m glad this song is number 1, I really like it!! Also, I like the simplicity of the music video. The fact that it is just one shot really emphasizes how good the song is, as well as Shaboozey having that X factor. I hope you are doing well and that you have an awesome weekend! 🙂

I guess I have heard this song. I live in redneck country, but I wasn’t aware of who the artist was and what the song was called.

I really enjoyed your breakdown of this song!! Thanks so much for the early access video, and awesome song👍👏

Joel nerding out the whole video 😆 love it

I've watched Shaboozey's interview whereby he explained he was just randomly spewing his and J-Kwon's lyrics off and the producers jumped in to make magic from a club song to a bar song. He also mentioned in CMA Fest 2024 that a lot of people - from the time he first played the song live till today - are unaware of his song and immediately love it upon hearing. Amazing how a spark of idea paid off tremendously. I seldom listen to country music but a song like Shaboozey's Tipsy is easy listening for me. The effect it has is similar to evergreen songs. I like how Nevin's explanations resonates to you with the way you raise your hands in sync with Nevin and you peeking closer at the samples. Peak nerd vibes. Lol. Admirable to see how people with in-depth music knowledge like yourself and Nevin share their work styles and thought processes to others without any airs. Appreciate for sharing a part of yourself too to us. I'm glad that you finally got an editor for this vid. Thank you and happy holidays to you and your family, Joel~~💜

Thank you so much for this Early Access video and for the Extras video, Joel!! 😁🙏🏻 I’m not sure if I’ve heard this song earlier during the year. I guess I just didn’t pay that close attention. So it was nice listening to it (for the first time?!) with you. It’s always fun watching videos when you’re breaking down either parts of, or an entire song. You get to “nerd out” a little bit…becoming both “teacher Joel” and “student Joel”. These are among my favorite videos because I’ve always loved music, and this type of video gives glimpses behind the scenes…showing us how things work. I know I say this a lot about this type of video, but, it’s because for me, it’s true. I enjoy seeing your passion for music and music making. Whether you’re breaking down one of your songs, or someone else’s song; your love and passion for music and for what you do always shines through. And that’s a beautiful thing, imho. Again, thank you so much for sharing your musical knowledge and passion for your craft with us!! I appreciate you so very much.

I’m someone who doesn’t have a particular favorite genre of music, I’ve always listened to everything. The rap/country fusion really struck a chord with me and this is on a very short list of my favorite songs this year, which I feel I’m probably in the minority in that. It also has that nostalgia factor for me with it being inspired by J-Kwon’s “Tipsy” (a song I had no business listening to as a high schooler 😅).

I'm still very tired of hearing this song but I understand the good parts better after the need out. Maybe you should do a video on the current trend of country fusion. Also, writ a song about whiskey because that seems vital to all of these country influenced songs.

I really love it when u do these song breakdowns! Really interesting stuff. Makes me appreciate songs more and notice things I wouldn't otherwise pay attention to. Still wouldn't add this song to my playlist, but kinda fun party song 😁 Thanks for the early access🥰
