2024-09-23 06:36:55 +0000 UTCI didn't hate this movie but it wasn't good. Sydney Sweeney was awful, the story was unnecessarily twisted (as mentioned in the pod), and the ending did not fit. They should have cut it to be her running away with the perfect baby or something. That final scene was so loud, unsettling, and WAY too long. I had to mute it bc my dog was freaking out. I've seen articles that Sweeney "fought so hard to make Immaculate happen" (search the terms on Google!) which makes me think she fought against alternate edits of the film to keep in her one very well acted scene that became the terrible ending

2024-09-23 06:34:32 +0000 UTCfellas, i implore you to watch and review “The Substance” for me. the insane reviews piqued my interest, but here i am sick with a sinus infection. despite this, my solution was to treat myself to a 500mg edible. i assumed it would help me relax and focus on the movie. half way through the batshit over-the-top body horror sequence, the edible kicked in and i began to experience my first weed induced panic attack. with my hat in hand, i gotta confess i sprinted out of the theatre and to the bathroom, pants down and vomiting all the way, fully prepared to die like elvis. and now the 8 people in that theatre probably think im a huge nerd bitch. the most embarrassing experience of my life as a horror fan.
