Not to mention coming to a movie 30 years too late can sometimes leave a newcomer wondering what all the fuss was about. To ME, it's the finest example of a western there is in terms of script, acting, direction, etc. Not to mention that thematically it basically apologizes for Eastwood's entire violent career on film... only to give us the sweet revenge we crave in the finale anyway. Something really genius about that, the way it condemns an entire genre while being kind of the definitive modern day example of it.

Beautifully shot and it had some great scenes but in all, I didn’t see why it is ranked so high. It’s me I’m sure but I was left disappointed because of all the high praise. Not bad, better than average but I do understand that I’m in the minority on this
