May Episode Four - The Coffee Table

Here we discuss the craziest project to focus on coffee tables since Kramer's book about them! The title might be bland, but the subject matter sure ain't! This is one heart-pounding experience, hailing all the way from Spain! It's The Coffee Table!

I too didn't get Steely Dan until my 40s. I watched that Aja doc this year found Fagan to have a very creepy unappealing look/vibe and almost put me off from finishing the doc.

Patrick Leonard

It was but the album still mostly sucked.

Larkin Hill

Can't believe they shafted the 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles OST.. list blows!

Dirk Overton

Pat, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Trugoy of De La Soul died last year.. so I don't know if they will be around any more🥺.

Dirk Overton

No Cars? 1st 2 records shaped the early 80's..

Bob Uzaka

Blood sugar sex magic should be on there too

Lee Ellis

mother! used to be my favourite movie. now i have a baby i can’t imagine ever watching it again lol. not touchin this one with a 10 foot pole

bree

Will you guys be doing an ep on Furiosa? Just saw it and it rocks so friggin hard

Raffi N

Regarding Nas, I’m a huge fan. Highly recommend Kings Disease 2. Fantastic album. One of my all time favs.

Tom E

I watched Cujo and Coffee Table back to back after hearing they’d be the next two episodes. Cujo was a much more disturbing watch for me. Pintauro’s acting in the car seemed too real. And thinking about what they made the dog actors go through. Coffee Table was just silly. It was way overhyped, you don’t even see anything graphic. I don’t have any kids though.

Ricky Coogan

I rented the movie thinking so what? I can’t feel anything it won’t get to me. I would watch the Sadness again before this. I understood completely About it being original and well written and acted but it’s very strange when a movie can make Me not want to talk to anyone for a whole day. I teach Pilates and had a lot of clients that day and kept looking at them all and thinking “ you have no idea what movie I watched” and what they would think if I even remotely tried to describe it while telling them To use their core and focus on their pilates form. It was a very weird day.

Rebecca

Music talk was fire this ep

Kevin

I never listen to an episode of this podcast without first watching the movie being discussed. Man do I wish I hadn’t seen this one because this bummed me the fuck out. The director is clearly not untalented but I don’t see the artistic merit in making shit like this.

KT1000

I'm not a 50 cent fan but Get rich or die trying was a HUGE record. Almost every song on there was a hit single and you couldn't go anywhere without seeing or hearing 50 cent(believe me i tried). Plus he was like the last of the BIG New york rap artists before Southern hip-hop took over everything.

Damion

I feel like a lot of that albums list reflect the list of best selling or most streamed albums of all times. They clearly used it as a starting point and made a few changes so it wouldn't be too obvious. (That would explain stuff like Bad Bunny)

Mat

Also on a more personal note and in light of its 30 yr anniversary I think the weezer blue album is a miss

Lee Ellis

I'm with Joe about Sinatra. But even more mind blowing to me is no elvis presley. I can understand maybe not being the coolest nowadays given what we know about the music being appropriated but he's undeniably iconic and continues to sell records. And if it's a woke thing; mick jagger, Robert plant, Jimmy page, Michael Jackson, Jay z all got skeletons so blow me

Lee Ellis

Joe said that, I said no such thing. It's probably my favorite in fact. I'd have to listen to them back-to-back to decide. PW

We'll See You In Hell

Expecting my first child in October… don’t think i’ll be watching this one.. jesus christ

Matty G

No Black Sabbath or Smashing Pumpkins on this list? Travesty! Btw, Pat I completely agree w you about Jay Z. There’s been these rumors out there about him for a while now… 👀

Raffi N

Both Pat and Joe calling “Low End Theory” A Tribe Called Quest’s thirds best album is mind blowing. Wild take guys.

Colin Crary

I love Pet Sounds, I was talking shit. Instrumentals still blow.

We'll See You In Hell

one of my favorite episodes in a long time, and I enjoy all of them the music talk was awesome, thanks guys

Michael Bell

The absolute creators of heavy metal .

Michael Smith

Not having a Black Sabbath album on there is criminal

S S

I’m not that dialed into the music scene but these lists are always a load of horseshit in my opinion. These people are all smoking crack, with picks that aren’t even close to objectively being one of their best albums. It’s all obscure bullshit and I’m starting to think they are trolling us. And if they are, I say to them, god bless your heart

Don’t worry Alec, it’s unloaded

Super disappointed with this movie. After the solo movie corn i was expecting 'speak no evil' levels of bleak. This movie is a ridiculous comedy and im surprised particularly with Pat's take. Normally we align but we have completely different takes on this one

Matt Garcia

Interesting radiohead takes, ok computer and bends are fine imo but in rainbows is their top for me. Kid A certainly more interesting than their previous work

Matt Garcia

Give Golden Hour a listen. Absolutely worth your time.

Christian Grant

I just hope you boys know this podcast is part of what keeps me going. Love yall

Kayla Fulp

Pet Sounds only has two instrumentals, both under 2.5 minutes. They're gorgeous composed palate cleansers.

Connor Dennehy

The Band ‘Music From The Big Pink’ is usually top ten and it’s not even on the Apple list 😂
