May Episode Two - The Howling

Just in time for last week's full moon, we got a review of a real tail-waggin' wolf-fest, folks! It's Joe Dante's most animalistic flick outside of Looney Tunes: Back In Action! It's The Howling!

Comments

Hearing Joe pronounce Wolf Hollow as “Woof Holler” was an immediate spit take.

Paddy McFukface

Wolf at snow hill was great. Ive never seen anything quite like it. Reminded me or Re-Animator mixed with supertroopers.

Timothy Atkins

Even better

Lee Ellis

Love the idea, even a Mad Max Franchise episode would be awesome next month or down the road

Dogliani

Prolly too late for this month but ideally a commentary episode of beyond thunderdome would be fucking awesome in honor of the late Tina turner. I'll take a review

Lee Ellis

Hey thanks man I appreciate it I looked for like an hour!

Eric Irwin

You were right! I just found it, literally the first Patreon episode called "October Bonus Ep"

Dogliani

Thanks man! let me know if you find it! I know for sure it’s post Patreon because I know I was only listening on the app at work this past week. I usually listen to the pre Patreon episodes on Spotify.

Eric Irwin

Fuck, I know for sure it's an pre-Pateron episode. My best guess would be it lands in early "Season 4" (I'm due for a relisten soon, I will keep you posted)

Dogliani

This is a random question but the rest of you hellions are pretty good about pointing me in the right direction as far as which episode is which. Does anyone happen to know which episode is the one that has Pat telling the story about the drunk tv technician who ripped Pats tv off the wall? I don’t remember what movie they were reviewing because that story was so funny.

Eric Irwin

Still can’t believe I haven’t checked out his letterbox yet.

I LOVE ME A LIST, TOP 10 DANTE 1. Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) 2. Innerspace (1987) 3. Small Soldiers (1998) 4. Hollywood Boulevard (1976) 5. Matinee (1993) 6. Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003) 7. "It's a Good Life" segment from Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) 8. Gremlins (1984) 9. The Second Civil War (1997) 10. Rock 'n' Roll High School (1979) uncredited but still counts still desperately need to see The Movie Orgy (1968)

FrancoGonzo

I gotta shout out the love letter to z-grade picture making Hollywood Boulevard (1976) as being an early uncut gem in the crown of Dante, featuring the dream team of Woronov & Bartel with a dash of Dick Miller. FUN TIMES. P.S. The bestest werewolf movie is the menstrual lycanthropic canuck-a-flick Ginger Snaps for your info Joe.

FrancoGonzo

I hope that with the writers strike pat will give us some more letterboxd content. Best in the game

Just revisited Sayles 1983 film Baby It's You. It’s as good as I remember. The mid 60’s Trenton, New Jersey setting gives it an interesting Sopranos adjacent aspect. It was produced by Amy Robinson (After Hours, Running on Empty) she also provided the autographical original story.

Canadian Day Player

This is unrelated to anything said on today's pod but it feels in theme-- there's a new, very strange play on Broadway now called "Grey House" that's very horror-y starring Laurie Metcalf. She's excellent in it and the whole thing is super eerie. Highly recommend to Joe or any other NY tri state hellions!

I looked up Jeepers Creepers: Reborn on IMDB and was going to make a stupid comment about how the main character is named "Sydney Craven" as a nod to Scream and Wes Craven, but turns out that's her real name. Weird.

SludgeWizard

Keepers creepers reborn!

Loved it!

Genuinely made my morning, boys.

Love you Pat and Joe. Ain’t nobody gonna break your stride. Ain’t nobody gonna slow you down. No. No. You’ve got to keep on movin. No justice no peace. Fight for your right to live comfortably.

Richard Howenstein

Whatta treat…get up for work. About to put on an older episode and you get hit with a brand new ep.
