Hi Everyone!
Introducing my new Tortoise design! For close to a year, I had been trying to work out a design of a tortoise that could both stand and retract into it's shell. It's been quite a fun challenge, and I'm excited to share it with you now!
It's fully print-in-place, you just have to crack the head free (similar to the bunny and tiger). To help him stand, there are small ball and socket joints on the ends of the legs. Just pull the legs out as far as you can, and they should snap into the position that will allow them to support it's weight. Then pop them back in to let him hide back in his shell. (The first few times might take some extra effort, but they should break-in nicely)
Here's a quick demo video of the model.
I hope you like it!
Matt

5%-15% Infill.
3 Walls.
Pulling the legs out fully allows them to pop into sockets. That creates enough tension to make him stand up. It may be difficult the first few times, but once it breaks-in, it should work with light effort. The head has built in pre-supports, just twist the head after printing to crack the joint free.
Here is a demo video of the print.
This should generally scale down to about 65% with full articulation, on a well calibrated printer. YMMV
