Hey Gang,

It's that time again.  The early release of my new Leopard Gecko model is here!  This is the most flexible articulated critter I've made yet!

This time we have leg locks on all four legs, which allows for even more posing options including standing on all fours!  I've added an additional mid-torso joint for more bend to the body.  Last, I redesigned the first tail joint which allows for the tail to be bent almost straight up, much like real Leopard Geckos do when in a defensive posture.  I love how loose this guy feels.  He's really satisfying to fidget with.  I hope you enjoy!

I'm planning to release this model to Cults3D later next week.  In the meantime, I would love to hear any feedback so that I can address any issues before I release it there.

Happy Printing!

Matt

3D PRINTING SETTINGS

For a demonstration of how I use Cura's support blockers to print the Head and Body at the same time, please check out this video. It's super easy!

Here is a quick video showing the easiest method for snap-fitting the head onto the body: https://youtu.be/DWsYu2BY7ow

Scale to your liking!  100% creates an approximately 10" model, so that will make it easy to scale it to your desired size. (80% = 8",  75% = 7.5", etc.)  Depending on your printer tolerances, you should be able to print close to 60-65% before the joint function may start to become compromised. YMMV

Hm, I haven't heard of any issues with it. Are you using a different filament than usual? Feel free to email me details and pics, and maybe that will help me troubleshoot... help@matmiremakes.com

MatMire_Makes

Hi there. I keep having an issue with the leopard gecko. The head keeps falling off. Easily. I downloaded the latest model and that one falls off as well. I am at a loss here. Every other model is spectacular.

Jerazmus

I totally get it. So, TeachingTech is probably the best all-in-one calibration resources. They have separate tutorial pages for each area of the printer. Some more complex than others, but he's very good at explaining them and includes super-helpful videos. For your case, the E-Steps and Flow sections might be the most helpful, but honestly going through the whole thing is never a bad idea (though time consuming, haha) https://teachingtechyt.github.io/calibration.html

MatMire_Makes

Thank you! Yes, I do find that it happens more in the silks, but those are what I tend to use (they're so pretty)...I end up gluing on the feet and it still works and looks great ;-) Do you have suggestions as to what calibrations I should try? I'm still fairly new to this and haven't done much in the way of the technical side of things ;-)

Pixel Perfect Reptiles

Hmm... since those links are likely printing solid anyways, infill or wall changes probably won't make any difference. I'll add it to my to-do list to look at thickening those links. I'm not sure how soon I can get to it, so in the meantime I think maybe calibrating e-steps and flow might get you a more consistent results, incase any under-extrusion is making them weaker. Perhaps avoid the more fragile filaments like silks (I realize that may not be practical).

I've been having issues with printing the leopard gecko body at 80% (which is a more realistic size, so I prefer it) but the back feet connectors keep breaking, sometimes only one side, sometimes both. Is there something I can change to strengthen this area so this doesn't keep happening?

Pixel Perfect Reptiles

Yes, we have a gargoyle too! Maybe Gargoyle is next!

Brandon Davids

Thank you!

MatMire_Makes

This is my first comment, but I have to say that I absolutely LOVE all your designs but the lizards are my favorite. I have a beardie , 2 leopard geckos and 2 crested geckos currently. Thank you so much for these !

Melanie and Dave Nevins

I also have bearded dragons and love this. Also have crested geckos and gargoyles. Hit hit. Lol

Terry House

That's awesome! I had a green anole as a kid, and it was so cool to me. Don't have any lizards now, aside from the ones I make. ;)

MatMire_Makes

I owned several geckos and bearded dragons (even got a tattoo) and you did a fantastic job not only drawing them in 3D but the gecko articulations are super nimble. I am about to slice the beardie and can't wait to see it done.

I am very excited about this model, I saw where you shared in one of my FB groups and bought it immediately (50% off? That was a deal!) then signed up. The "normal" body printed nicely although I had to start over due to 2 pieces getting bumped to the side - it will become a magnet or something like that I also experienced the ball joint base going for a ride somewhere but the brim one printed nicely. All printed at 85%.

Nadine Babin

Thanks!!!

Brian Banks

Of course! It's actually a Tri-Color. Yousu blue/red/gold

MatMire_Makes

Love the blue/purple color! Would you mind sharing what filament that is?

Brian Banks

Thanks!

Katsu's Dojo 3D

Oops, I just fixed it. Please re-download it. Apologies.

MatMire_Makes

The "body with custom brim" file also has the head included, but can't be repositioned on the build plate. The attached head also does not have the custom brim like the separate head file. Actually, both body files also include a head.

Those links are active now, and will take you to the "Downloads" post.

MatMire_Makes

i just get it form my sister compeny she already has downloaded

Misty Mcdonald

Oh! it's not a link, but it should be! I should have thought of that. I'll fix that now.

MatMire_Makes

i cant open the link **Download from the Pinned post at the top of the Posts Feed**

Misty Mcdonald

It can be downloaded from the pinned "Current Download Links" post, but I can send group messages with the links as well, if that would be helpful.

MatMire_Makes

can you email me the print
