Update: Upcoming episodes and more!

Hey everyone, Coury here. I wanted to send out an update to everyone to let them know whats up because I don't think I'm gonna be able to have this episode finished for Sunday release. It'll happen probably Monday or Tuesday.
Reason being, is that I just have too much freelance work all coming in at the same time and I have two kids (7 & 4) home with me for the Summer. While we have a babysitter coming 3 days a week, it's still leaving me with much less time that I have when school is in session. I'm just not gonna be able to finish this one on time. I think I can get close by Sunday, but not quite.
As have have heard, Try is working on the "game technology documentary" we shot last Summer and Fall, so that leaves me essentially creating 99% of the content for the channel until he wraps that up.
The good new is that the documentary series is shaping up to be a "mini series event" that will span 5-6 episodes. We're not gonna launch it til they're all in the can, so we can release them all in a row. One per week.
I mentioned the other day in the Livestream, but I wasn't able to dedicate the time to the memory card save back up episode that it needed to get it done on time. It didn't help that episode got so long that it had to be split in two itself. One episode for memory cards, and another for internal and RAM cart saves. If we'd done them all in a row, I think it would have annoyed a lot of viewers too. That's like a month and a half of content dedicated to save backups!
So those get spaced out a bit, but the good news is that the scripts and research for them are basically done so they should be easy to make when the time comes.
For the upcoming episodes, I opted for something a bit easier that I've had in the back of my mind for awhile as a "quick" episode to do when I'm in a similar situation. I'm calling "ROM hacks for people that don't like ROM hacks" (not the official title). Its all useful stuff added to games that might make certain games more approachable to people (quality of life tweaks, translations, saves instead of passwords, etc). It covers what looks to be around 43 hacks and it moves at a pretty rapid fire pace. Some games get more screen time than others, while some are just quick mentions. Run-time is around 39 mins right now...
After this, what's next? Well, its looking like a lot of bigger subjects are falling into place. Tentatively the next 3 episodes after that are gonna be Mega SD, GBA Consolizer and HAS Supergun.
Hopefully Try will be wrapped up with his stuff after that, but if not, I have episode ideas in place that will fill out the rest of the year if need be.
After he's done, we'll be changing out workflow in a way that I think is gonna be great for us. Since we started the channel, we've basically handled our own episodes. From scripting, to research to gameplay capture and B-Roll. Over the course of the last couple of years, as the episodes have gotten longer and longer, we started supporting each other when it was needed. We'd record some gameplay or shoot some b-roll that the other couldn't get.
Going forward, we'll be working on every episode together - one person edits while the other person feeds them B-Roll and Game footage (which Try and I term "G-Roll") which should speed up the overall process significantly, while taking a lot of the pressure off one person.
We've done this on a couple episodes in the last year and things move really fast. The Best way to play Castlevania Rondo and Symphony, and NES VC on Switch episodes were both situations where we did this, and those episodes each took a week from conception to finished upload.
This is especially good because of the way we want to keep a regular set in stone schedule - every other Sunday at 10EST. And if we can produce episodes like those previously mentioned ones in a week, we should be able to get pretty far ahead... and if so, we'll probably be able to sneak in bonus episodes on the "off" weeks.
So yeah, I just wanted to let everyone know our plans and that I'll get episodes out as often and regularly as I can (also doing VideoLogs and more). It might not be exactly every other week on Sunday, but I'll always be aiming to make that happen!
Sorry for the ramble! Thanks to all of you for your support!

No ramble, nice exclusive for us. Thanks for the update Coury! Good luck with the freelance work. Have any of your clients ever discovered your channel after and get into it? Just curious.

2019-06-29 00:59:30 +0000 UTCWow I love the ROM hacks video idea, sounds like you've already got everything picked out but if I may suggest the "Ted Woolsey Uncensored" hack for FF3 on SNES . Either way can't wait to see what you've got lined up.
2019-06-28 21:06:37 +0000 UTCI didn't have it in there, but I've formatted the episode in a way that I can add more games/hacks to it fairly easily if if I discovered something new while working on it. Is this the one you were talking about? https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4213/

2019-06-28 19:57:53 +0000 UTCSounds like a smart strategy for the future. Good luck until you make that switch! Predictable schedule is a good goal but I think with the substantive content you make, a day or two doesn't make much difference.

2019-06-28 19:56:00 +0000 UTC2 DAYS LATE! How dare... Nah, it’s fine 😂 I hope Alien 3 on the Megadrive is on your list of game hacks, one of the most prominent patches for it basically makes it playable, and turns it into a good solid game.
