Kyle Rittenhouse: The Anatomy of a Six Hour News Cycle

We open the episode with a brief discussion on the "are conservatives weird?" discourse, then talk about the history of, and recent drama surrounding, Kyle Rittenhouse, his decision to vote for Ron Paul, then the immediate and hilarious backpedaling of that choice.

Content Warning: Politics, duh. We also recorded this while Caleb was sick, so there is an occasional sniffle. Sorry about that

Like I know conservatives are hypocrites and pointing it out is basically useless but it's still funny and wild to hear them say stuff like "I bet this kid is being controlled by The Deep State" while actively trying to control him and being mad that he's not being an obedient puppet for THEM and also the "Does anyone else find it STRANGE that he just showed up in Kenosha? 🤨" YES! That's part of why so many people thought he should go to prison! Because it seemed like he came from out of state with the intention of killing protestors that day and you guys said it was perfectly normal!

Just a mild critique; I think it would be helpful if you guys just had a quick pre-written summary of events when you cover a story. Would help things flow better idk

I came here to say this.

btw “cheugy” is a nonsense word that some Millennial on Instagram made up to describe stereotypically Millennial things that Gen-Z finds cringe. e.g. skinny jeans are cheugy, and side parts are cheugy, and instead Gen-Z looks like *NSYNC circa 2000.

Oh, and my attitude towards Kyle Rittenhouse is that he was an entirely unexceptional teenager—i.e. a literal child—and then conservatives ruined his life. (And my read on how you describe his politics early on is that he sounds like a Ron Paul 2008 guy, which is only weird because he was about a dozen years late to the party.) (The Ron Paul 2008 vibe is basically Joe Rogan: vaguely reactionary, but mostly just a stoner idiot, and not really all that terminally online by current standards.)

You forgot the other subset of Telegram users, who are in fact probably the majority: Russians. I have a Telegram account that I use almost exclusively for talking to a Russian friend of mine. My impression is that Telegram to Russians is just WhatsApp. And WhatsApp itself has weird right-wing group chats in some countries, just not the US.
