Theme - The Crossover Insanity

Hi all,

I have been reflecting on the types of stories I write and have realised that I need to broaden my horizons a bit. I only write long-form stories and don’t have any shorter ones. 

So, I am going to write a shorter story and combine it with a wacky writing prompt challenge. Since this is a bit more lighthearted and the chapters are shorter, it won’t impact my writing schedule, and it will be a fun experiment.

The concept of the challenge is that patrons will vote on the direction of the story, and I have to somehow fit the pieces together into a coherent whole. Either I succeed or I fail spectacularly.

I will start off the story with a chapter, but everything else after that will be decided by the patrons.

Here are the rules:

I will post a series of polls one week to decide the story's direction, and then post the chapter in the second. I’m aiming for two chapters per month.

The first chapter that starts it off will be out early next week. The title of the first chapter is A Box of Curiosities. It starts in the Harry Potter World, and it has an element from Naruto in it.

First Poll: Vote on a crossover to add to the next chapter.

I have to introduce elements from another world in every chapter, whether it be from an anime, a game, or something else. This will continue until I can’t handle any more craziness and find a way to end the story.

Second Poll: Vote on how the crossover appears in the next chapter.

This can be something like adding a character; the MC acquiring an ability or superpower from that world; a plot device from that series of work; or travelling to the world itself.

Third Poll: Narrow down your choices.

Now that you have decided on crossover and how it appears, let us get more specific. For example: in the first two polls, you could have chosen Pokemon and then add a new character. This poll will determine what character is added.

Fourth Poll: Decide the name of the next chapter.

The chapter's name will determine its theme or plot, but it must follow the previous chapter coherently. It depends on how I interpret it. The name must be at least four words long and something interesting. This could change the story drastically. Anything goes. Don’t like the MC? Kill them off and let someone else take their place.

Fifth Poll: Get rid of it!

Don't like the crossover or element added in the last chapter? Vote on whether it should be removed and suggest some crazy ideas on how to remove it. This is a simple “yes” or “no” poll, but another one will be posted if the answer is yes.

(I will take suggestions for all polls from the comments in the previous poll or chapter. If there are no or few suggestions, I will add some of my own.)

This story will be exclusive to the tiers Dedicated Gamer and above for a month before it will also be available to the Casual Gamer tier. This experiment may fail, but I at least I tried something new.

I am sure that I haven’t thought of everything, but I will work on it as I go along.
