Captains Table (October 2022)

Greetings my brother generals,

Value Select here…

Enjoying your Hallows Eve?

Excellent.

Your costume is fantastic.

It looks exactly like what you were going for.

And so begins our secret CAPTAINS TABLE (the first ever)

October brought us several MASTERWORKS:

VIDEO

MUSIC

MERCHANDISE

BONUS TREASURE

(“Ad Break” and “Evil Wizard” have virtually tied for VIDEO CONVERSION; I leave it to yee, my trusted captains, to author the SWING VOTE, comment below!)

Also, BRING BACK THE DUEL is a mere 60k views away from ONE MILLION!!!

And yet…

DARKNESS ABOUNDS

Since the dawn of the DARK AGE, a plague has besieged the channel (actually)

I’m referring to subscriber loss!

October has vanquished 400 or so subscribers to the void…

The reason?

Could be the shift in content! (Yule Quest is not typical VS upload)

Could be the purging of spam accounts! (Robot discrimination from Susan)

Could even be BOTH of these things (plus an unknowable third thing of eldritch horror!)

One fact remains: A HOLY CRUSADE MUST BEGIN!

WE MUST RESCUE OUR FALLEN COMRADES!

RALLY BEHIND ME BROTHERS for this NOVEMBER our greatest fight will be won!

TURN THE TIDE

The best videos yet, AND in rapid succession?

THAT’S HOW WINNING IS DONE!

THE FATE OF THE CHANNEL IS AT STAKE (and it’ll be fun!)

TO VICTORY!

Have a great rest of your night, cherish the ones dear to you!

And please! Let me know which CHARACTER STORY you wish to see on video!

Love & Respect,

Also, I'll add the acting is so good. Love the interactions you build with a service person in power and a "client" wanting approval. The awkward but still holding it together delivery of "in the event of a crash, yes *uncomfortable laugh*" was so fucking funny

I love the new videos! My favorite moments are the "AI art canvases" where you just get to breath in a beautiful scene with people living their lives. So the two people waiting for the bus in Emergency Exit, and the people digging in the desert in Champagne of the Torturer. Stunning. That being said, even being a die hard fan, it did take me a few times starting the video to get through it. Looking at Emergency Exit, I count 5 unique art styles that pop up in the first minute largely unrelated to each other. For me, this made it difficult to know what was going on/what I should be absorbing as a viewer, and also it when I realized the scene change was going to be a massive change in style I always thought "oh shit, did I miss something". Doing this many times in a row I think left me disoriented/feeling out of sync with the video. But then, I found out that if I started the video at 1:00, I actually would have understood it perfectly without getting confused. Now... I'm definitely not gonna parrot one of these YouTube "hack" addicts whose only vocabulary word longer than 5 letters is retention - I think what you're doing is super artful and now that I get the intro structure (after two videos), I can more easily look forward to the next ones. So from an artists point of view, I think a little more guidance in the intro might be nice. For instance, the 8-bit world I think always seems incredibly funny but then I'm a little lost when it goes so quickly/what was I supposed to learn from that moment? This is only my opinion! I know nothing! Just wanted to share because you mentioned subscriber loss, and I hope it helps. Much love.

Hello, Brother! I know I sometimes write really long things so I'll try to keep this one short 😅.

Agreed!

I can’t imagine Yule quest is putting that many people off. Personally I think farewell to sons and emergency exit were some of the best things to come out of the channel so far. That said I can absolutely see people being accustomed to less fantasy centric musical comedy or mirth pop. Perhaps a middle ground including both mirth pop centric content and fantasy lore building videos would help with retention?

Definitely dark wizard therapist. That one feels relatable in a dark way
