Its preliminary, so I'm waiting for the final list before I have any big opinions. Some things that surprise me would be the HD800 and HD800S having the same 'tone' grade, as well as the 600 and 650 having the same grade overall. For that matter, the 650 having a better technicality than the ZMF auteur, which is similar to the 650, just with significantly better technicalities. The aelous having a better technicality score than the auteur is also puzzling.

It definitely would be helpful to see the criteria applied, be it systematically or in the form of short notes. I have some hypotheses about the rationale behind several of the off-mainstream rankings. Still I'd be interested in verification. Biggest surprises and discrepancies (≥ 2 steps) to my own rankings are: Focal Stellia (A= instead of C-) Hifiman HE1000 (A= instead of S+) Audeze LCD-4 (A- instead of B=) Meze Empyrean (A- instead of B=) Focal Elegia (B= instead of C-) Abyss Diana Phi (B- instead of C=) ZMF Atticus (B- instead of C=) Sony MDR CD900 (C= instead of A-) The rankings for MDR-Z1 and HD820 are just fine ;).
