Your bit about insecurity reminded of a really good line I recently heard from Ashley C Ford earlier this week, it was along the lines of “people aren’t better than me, they might be better at doing certain things than me, like promoting their writing, but they’re not better than me” and I really loved how gentle yet accountable that was.

in the circle of youtubers that I have been watching the last few years many have stoped posting or like you are voicing their want to stop posting. It is bittersweet as a watcher but it also makes me joyful. Joyful because many are commentary and have been criticizing this imperialist white-supremacist capitalist patriarchy system that makes life ashy. Thats why as a viewer I have chosen to support and follow. At a certain point we have the theories and ideologies but when are we starting the practice. For aslong as I can I'll support where you go. the way that you create content is an important, kinda niche, entirely necessary corner. i feel like i’ve grown to understand myself a lot more through you (outside of the name 💀) because you’re so authentically you, and with learning you have bpd it’s helped me better understand even more. i really don’t believe you’ll ever have to worry about if your content is right, if you made it it’s exactly what it should be

Hugs for you Khadija. I feel a little guilty cuz I’ve drunk-commented on your posts before 😅 but it’s all love here 💕. I really enjoy your personality, thoughts, and opinions. Thank you for your insight, I definitely think of you as an online friend ❤️ (no pressure, just saying 🥲).

Just want you to know that I watch your vids specifically bc. of how thorough/nuanced/balanced your takes are. I rarely watch content about social media / trends bc. honestly it stresses me out and I don't like when people take those topics lightly. But your videos bring a good viewpoint which I want more of in my life. <3

We're all guilty of this to a degree, and often we can justify hateration behavior because we may (or may not) have the moral highground? more knowledge? better taste? loyalty? a sense of duty? I do think the dopamine rush and the community that comes together to "fight" a perceived or real threat are major parts in pushing it beyond good faith critique. I am a very skeptical and critical person by nature. I've deliberately tried not to air out every grievance online because it becomes very easy to get sucked into an alternate reality where everything is a problem. It keeps my nervous system on edge and what I actually need is to chill out and enjoy peace. I think leaning into hateration keeps you miserable in the long run. #selfcare

As someone who has (regretably) participated in this sort of exclusionary mocking mentality, I think the dopamine rush I got was in feeling superior and in connecting to the people i was participating in that mentality with. When you mentioned social polarization, I was reminded of The Dawn of Everything. It puts forth the theory that through prehistory, groups of people defined their values in opposition to one another as part of a group identify. I think the specific example the book used was the comparison of the native american groups that lived in modern day western America and the groups that lived in modern day western Canada. I think it said that the Canada groups had a more stratified social structure, with an aristocratic class and a slave underclass, whereas the california-ish groups were more egalitarian. And it does go into potential environmental reasons for that difference, but it also emphasizes that it's totally plausible that part of why their values differed was because they identified themselves in opposition to one another. I think this "hater" culture could be something along the same lines. First it marks yourself as superior to another group, and it provides a feeling of security since it bonds you to a group

I really do enjoy your nuanced take on a lot of topics. Also love your vulnerability and willingness to flip the mirror on yourself - you have helped improve my critical thinking and ability to reflect. While I’m sad to hear that you’re not enjoying posting on YouTube, I totally understand. I feel the quality of YouTube content has taken a major hit in recent years, all in service to the almighty algorithm. So i have had to be very intentional with what I watch. Also, I’m in a bit of a transitionary phase in my life right now (read: fresh grad, no job😂)…. so I’ve been seeking out and viewing a lot of skill building and personal growth content. But the algorithm still pushes incendiary/time-wasting content my way. I guess sis already has me figured out from my long viewing history. It’s a struggle! Anyway, you’re one of the few voices that I still seek out. And If Patreon is where you feel you can keep putting out quality content in your authentic voice, please continue to prioritize that. Then put out the YouTube videos whenever to use as a new sub feeder to your Patreon and maybe get some extra ad coins.
