Chapter Delay & other weird stuff coming up
Added 2024-08-22 20:50:08 +0000 UTCHi Patrons,
Just posting to let Saber Tier patrons know that the next chapter(s) of Gunpowder Magnolia will probably be delayed to some time after August and give everyone a general update on what I've been up to.
This is a little frustrating because the next two Gunpowder chapters are mostly written. However, due to an impromptu family visit, the rest of my August just got very busy and, between the other author stuff I have to finish (signing several thousand tip-ins, art direction for upcoming secret stuff, non-Patreon writing with looming due dates) I don't see myself carving out the time to get this finished in August.
Normally, I'd promise to get caught up in the next month (and I still hope to do just that!) but I'm honestly fuzzy on what September - November are going to look like with Blood Over Bright Haven (re)launching in late October. Since this will be my first trad release, it's hard to predict how it will affect my work schedule and general mental state. Consequently, I'm not going to make any promises about my output during that window. I'm just going to hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and in the case of the latter, make up any missed chapters as we move into 2025.
If you've kept up with my posting schedule and updates over the past year or longer, you know that my current Gunpowder posting schedule of ~8k words per month was implemented to make up for a year of missed Patreon chapters when my publishing schedule got packed in 2023. When those missed chapters are all made up (in early 2025 at the latest), I'll be revising my posting schedule. This will probably mean cutting back to ~4k words per month or, more likely, creating a more fluid schedule that allows me to post whenever I happen to have chapters and not when I don't. If you're a fan of the more regular posting schedule, rest assured, we'll have several more months of that before anything changes. And, of course, I'll notify you when I plan to adjust the schedule so that anyone who wants to change or cancel their pledge has an opportunity to do that. This is just a heads-up about my 2025 plans.
Some other miscellaneous stuff I've had going on:
A new Special Edition of THE SWORD OF KAIGEN is coming from my friends at Wraithmarked Creative! This edition of Kaigen was designed to feature on a shelf on its own or as a set with a matching edition of Rob J. Hayes' swashbuckling pirate fantasy, Where Loyalties Lie (another winning title in Mark Lawrence's SPFBO). Both editions will be funding through Kickstarter with options to pre-order either one book of your choice or both.

You can follow here to be notified when it goes live on September 3rd.
I'm also in a fantasy anthology from Grim Oak Press, featuring stories by a bunch of indie fantasy giants like Ryan Cahill, ML Spencer, Michael J. Sullivan, Jeff Wheeler, Michael R. Miller, and more! You can follow here to be notified when THAT goes live on September 2nd. (Yes, we have two Kickstarters directly on top of each other. I didn't plan it that way, it just happened 🤦🏻♀️)
Last, we've got beautiful BLOOD OVER BRIGHT HAVEN Pre-Order Swag for those ordering from US retailers!

There are several other similar projects I'm working on as you read this. Can't share anything about them now but hopefully soon!
Comments
This Sword of Kaigen special edition SHOULD be more affordable than the last one Wraithmarked produced. No idea about the anthology, though. We'll have to see when funding starts.
