2024-01-30 07:50:55 +0000 UTCRE: tribute to my nephew Kayden and his Dad, Dave, during Happy Hour today I just want to say a HUGE thank you, to you Harry, and to the H. Mack fam and community as a whole - your love and support is second to none π§‘π«Άπ» Although my heart is heavy, it is so full β€οΈ Just to give you a bit of the backstory...my nephew Kayden was adopted 10 years ago, when he was just 3 years old. Coming from a place of unimaginably tough circumstances, Kayden was showered with love from our family and Dave stepped up and became the best Dad that anyone could ever hope for. Dave worked as a Sales Rep for Frito Lay (PepsiCo) for over 20 years so he is well known in the community. Dave is an otherwise very healthy, athletic, happy-go-lucky person, who would do anything for anyone and probably one of the funniest people I know. He was married to my sister and has always been like a brother to me. In September of 2022 Dave started experiencing a pain in the right side of his abdomen. Just 2 weeks later, despite being active, healthy and an avid golfer and hockey player, he was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He has since learned that the cancer has spread to his lungs, liver, colon and kidneys. "Uncle D" was always super good to me and my son Joshua who has non-verbal autism. He used to rap/beatbox Joshua's favourite books to him. His favourote quote is, "Be somebody that makes everyone feel like a somebody." He is one of those people who makes the world a better place simply by being in it π§‘βοΈ P.S. It was pretty cool that the freestyle previous to the one you did for Kayden and Dave had the word "sun" as I recently started painting and asked Dave what I could paint for him. He said a sun over a field. Also you made a reference to "can't imagine the pain, I'm trying to paint a picture." β€οΈ
