He got more heavily into drugs after, at the fundamental age of 19, he released his debut Album Blue Slide Park that he was super excited for. It ended up tanking with critics and Pitchfork rated the album a 1/10 which really crushed him. He turned more heavily into drugs as a way of dealing with the stress of the industry as well as a coping mechanism for his depression.
