WIP - Animation Workshop Exercises

Some stuff I’ve been doing as exercises for a friend’s animation workshops. These two are basically exercises on interaction, one with a character and another with a prop. I realized I don’t do this much and that I really took my time making these. I’ve come to realize that i’ve become a bit more patient with this sort of stuff as I t takes a lot of care and time put into it.

While I usually spend about less than an hour making my sketches, animation really takes a buttload of time and is definitely a new change of pace for me (i think I spent more than 4 hours making the final rough of this one?). It’s a lot of winging and feeling what moves right. I wonder when i’ll “”figure it out””

I didn’t realize until blocking the poses in this one that it lasted 9 seconds. A lot of my old animation attempts involved getting as little frames over with but I’ve begun to learn to lengthen and delay movements. I still do some cheats working on 4s and 3s haha

It’s funny how this kind of drawing hits differently where I‘m usually not doing this for work or for a client. It feels nice doing stuff for myself and seeing the rewards play out!

Doing on 3s and 4s is very relatable haha! The feels when the animation is finished and plays out nice :)
