Ramble: Abandoned Animatronics

Comments

An abandoned park near us is/was Blobbyland at Cricket st Thomas near Chard in the south west of England. For anyone outside of the UK, who doesn't know who Mr Bobby is, he's a giant pink mascot character with googley eyes and a voicebox that is beyond frightening. He was hugely popular in the 90s and I'm begging any of you to look it up. The park was tiny, but urban explorers loved the grounds because up until recently you could visit the site (now a golf course - boo!!) and see all of the abandoned buildings including his house, with animatronic blobby wife and children (I think they were a race of aliens?) so his wife is him with longer lashes and a bow 😂

drink when: jenny identifies an animatronic the person filming reaches for the mouth the person filming does something lifethreatening or illegal chaos mode: jenny screams in horror i think it's an airtight drinking game

god it’s so charming and funny how grossed out you get by animatronics “not how they’re supposed to be seen”/in states of disrepair when people TOUCH them. I’m sorry for delighting in your unease but this video is so entertaining.

I love how practical Jenny's fears are lol. "Abandoned buildings are scary... because you could fall 😥"

I would have loved to see Mirapolis they should have given it more time :(

I am french and i do not ANY recognize these critters FYI. Apart from the giant who is definitely Gargantua from Rabelais’ book and the likely Chat Botté (Puss in boots) i cannot tell who any of these people are. And yeah, the news report shows the interview of a guy at the dismantling who mentions how moved he is cause he won’t get to see all of this again…

i love seeing Jenny react in abject horror to the loving touches to creepy decrepit old things. I also do this when exploring the industrial condemned buildings around me, tho I can't say why. objectively both worse and more understandable to do it to characters I think

Tuber

I love the Jenny scream-cringe. WHY IS HE TOUCHING ITTTTTT? EWWWWWWW!

The next time you visit Seattle, please check out the Family Fun Center in Tukwila, they seem to still have a Bullwinkle animatronic show

Kenny

That's my childhood Chucky Cheese in that video; I always wondered why they looked so different from commercials.

it was so funny and COOL to see you talk about WEM because I grew up going there constantly and now work there :) the sharks and fish you saw still live in the aquarium! basically the subs used to go around the lake and look into windows of the aquarium (which you can still visit and look at from the opposite side). there were also a ton of tanks that were only viewable from the subs and are now empty. some of the movie theater animatronics are still up, theyre like these men in davinci type flying machines but they no longer move, they just hang there haha

the Mirapolis creatures are based on really famous (in france, at least) children fables written in the 1600s ish by Jean de la Fontaine…so many theme parks in france actually reference these!! it’s just kind of a thing everyone learns about in elementary school, and so they’re super easy subjects for quick stories with animatronics :) many of his fables were also re-modernizations/retellings of aesop’s fables

Has Jenny ever been to Puy du Fou?

The large size of the animatronics in the Never Ending Story ride is so cool to see, because it seems like they’re trying to get close to their in-movie proportions. A lot of the whimsy of the film was all these gigantic creatures and the grand epic scale of everything, so it makes sense that they’re all so large. The Rock Biter is definitely a favorite character, he’s a big gentle giant that eats rocks! And the puppy faced snail is a Racing Snail, and is actually very fast and one of the characters rides it like a horse. And the turtle shoots water probably because he’s sneezing which is a little gross, but it’s part of the movie too. Never Ending Story was one of my favorite movies as a kid, up there with The Labyrinth though it was scarier and more intense. If you like the puppets and general vibe of The Labyrinth or The Dark Crystal, Never Ending Story is probably worth a watch!

Tbh every new video is my new favorite. I’m so happy to see more Jenny. I’d been waiting for more YouTube vids and not till rewatching her Star Wars hotel vid I was like “hmm, she does have a Patreon….” SO HAPPY to sub and have all these new videos

R

Is this anyone else’s favourite Patreon video? I find it so comforting, weirdly, to have Jenny take is through each video cos if I was watching them by myself I’d get too scared.

Rip mirapolis 💔 :(

The thing that scares me is all the dust and mildew flying around, allergies would be SO bad in these places I went to Bugaboo Creek as a kid! It was overwhelmingly loud and annoying because there were TVs and also the moose constantly talking and a bunch of other things being set off at random. Great place to eat if you like sensory overload and want your meals interrupted by jumpscares, I guess.

I know this is off topic, but does Jenny's fan base have a name? What if we were called, the Skippies? o¿o

Oh my god, I've never met anybody else who feels the same way about the cheese at Subway. My regular order is ham with extra white American cheese.
