Okay so. I have never (to my memory) seen We Sing For Sillyville, but the clip you played here with the frogs?? My mom used to sing that song for me when she helped me brush my teeth as a very small child and I'm kinda reeling because I thought she made it up herself

now you see me 2 is my sister’s favourite movie and it’s so bad and so funny. Daniel Radcliffe is the villain, woody harrelson gets an evil twin and a sad backstory, they replace the token female magician with the actress who plays Janis Ian/julia from new girl, mark ruffalo’s character is just there and does not serve the plot in any way shape or form, and there’s this one water trick that’s supposed to be this grand illusion and it’s SO BAD. also personally my highlight is this one song by pharrell that my sister got OBSESSED with but it only played for like 0.2 seconds and she misheard the lyrics so she spent like a month trying to find it and would keep replaying that section of the movie

Just signed up for the Patreon and going through the backlog. Love Again not showing the bus accident is an immediate thumbs down. I love a good shot of a character getting hit by a car (Meet Joe Black for the win). Also, is it just me or does even James Marsden look uncomfortable when Sonic calls him Dad?

Honestly they should’ve just created a short film around the time when they were still popular to capitalize off of the trend. Like I know it still maybe would’ve came out when the trend was dying because animation takes time but it would’ve been less outdated by then.

Ok I just joined your Patreon so I’m watching all the amazing backlog of videos. I have to say I agree with the princess scene in Wreck it Ralph 2 but also before that there were some VERY popular web comics of the princesses hanging out together and/or wearing modern clothes. I feel like Disney saw those and said, “Oo this will make money, put that in something for all the people who like it,” but they didn’t want to make a movie of that and instead just forced it into Wreck it Ralph 2. Which by the time it came out those weren’t even as popular anymore. I’ve never heard anyone talk about that and the fact no one has said anything about that comparison irrationally bothers me because it seems pretty blatant to me. Anyway, great video as always! :)

The Pizza Hut thing made me die laughing. Also I unironically love the now you see me movie. I feel like people don’t talk enough about how epic the score is and how fantastic it all feels. Like it’s the one movie where the weird illuminati feels campy and fun instead of just another tired action trope. They tried to make nerds into action vigilantes and I can’t get enough of it.

I do think "Fast & Furious but with magicians" is a dynamite concept for a big, dumb action franchise, but requiring your characters and narrator to be smug pricks might be the biggest misjudgement I've ever seen. Part of what makes the dumb action of Fast & Furious so endearing is how genuinely it's presented, they're NEVER winking at the camera about how cool and effortless it all is.

Also re: Cyrano's nose, that was actually Dinklage's choice, interestingly enough. I read an interview where he talks about forgoing the prosthetic nose because he felt that wouldn't have been as authentic. But that still makes it weird when they call him ugly in the film, when that doesn't match what the audience is seeing. He's done other roles like this too, actually. Like in Game of Thrones, Tyrion is described in the books as being uncannily ugly. But they did the smart thing by removing that angle the show, and just making it about the ableism he faces, so there isn't that distracting dissonance to it.

Wow that part with the Cyrano Rap actually shook me to my core. I've heard of the movie but haven't seen it, I just thought, "Oh that looks like a great movie, I bet I'll really like it. It looks pretty sad though, so I'll watch it eventually." Finding out through a Jenny Nicholson Patreon video that the lyrics are actually so cringe is crazy. Why does everyone think they can just whip out a movie musical like it's nothing? Reminds me of Disney's Wish, and how they tried to imitate Lin Manuel Miranda's wordy rap style and ended up with some incredibly awkward cadences.

The blue corn moon shirt is a reference to the song Colors of the Wind. There's a line where Pocahontas songs "Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon?" It's not a real native American concept but was meant as a nod to a similar name for a time of year from a poem.

i think a scene that does the whole giving yourself permission to love again after losing a partner way better is from how i met your mother weirdly. not ted running off to be with robin but a scene where the mother is having a conversation with her dead husband but he’s not actually there. she’s just talking and telling him wherever he is that she thinks she’s going to move on but she still loves him and will never stop. i don’t think it’s the best show but i think that scene was really well done

I was trying to think of why the Love Again plot sounded so familiar and then I realized that it's directly taken from the German movie SMS für Dich! Tonally dissonant bus accident and all! So if you would like the same movie but in German ... that exists.

Haven't finished the vid yet but, I must say, an accurate and funnier joke would be Vanellope winds up on a flash games website and meets the princesses but it's those disturbing bootleg mobile-games where Elsa's pregnant with Spiderman or Rapunzel's getting throat surgery. Vanellope sees what the viewer can't and she's immediately screaming for Ralph to get her out. It was 2018 so flash would have still existed then.

re: sonic father audience reactions: when i saw nightmare alley in theaters, the main character is continually shown having a fraught relationship with an older man in flash backs until this old man dies of neglect and bradley cooper's character burns the house down with him in it and leaves it all behind. it is heavily implied via dialogue with other characters that he has troubles with his father or father figure, and also like, who else would that really be? the movie is really taking pains to set this up. anyway near the end of the movie it is confirmed, yes, that was his father. and someone in the audience, astonished, gasped "SO THAT WAS HIS FATHER??" apparently not picking up on a crumb of the barely sub subtext. now in every movie featuring a father character, we loudly whisper 'OHHHH so that was their father?" as the credits roll. works best for movies where there was never any doubt.

Now You See Me 2 is very memorable for two reasons! They have Daniel Radcliffe playing the anti-magic character! And the scene where the pass the playing cards while being searched from the person who was just searched to the next person to be searched. Also they named it Now You See Me 2 instead of Now You Don't
