This video sent me spiralling down my tumblr archive from 2013 when I was in high school. I just found about 5-10 posts, either gif sets of Peter being nice to actual children or compilations that all included variations of the battle scars story. Never been a disney or theme park fan so Imyguess is that the character interactions were cute and that was enough. Can’t say I’ve ever seen the actual videos following him but wow that unleashed some second hand social anxiety…

The Mad T Party fandom type is not super unusual. It's a DIY fandom, a group of people take a thing with little or no characterization/backstory and make their own collective narrative from the ground up (see also, the dancestor subset of the homestuck fandom in 2013-2014)

I grew up in the town where Marry Martin was born/lived so I have my own Peter Pan related nausea from hearing about that and having to watch the musical about a million times in school. But this is a whole other level of cringe.

my roommate and i held a “tumblr themed” party last month and I took it upon myself to create a tumblr sexyman photo wall and I actually remembered all of this and put up a picture of one of these peters 😭😭😭

I went down a rabbit hole of watching some of the videos after watching this. It's not as cringey as you make it sound. The main person who does the Huggy Pan videos actually became friends with him. I'm also impressed with how well the character actors respond to different situations and stay in character.

One of the funniest, most obscure topics I didn't know existed. (Robin Williams is the only Peter Pan I know! RIP.)

also when she said "but it's just all projection" with the t party band -- that's what makes it so perfect. All fanon. That's the dream to some people. Boil fandom down to its essence, get just the fanon parts.

when you talked about the demographic presumably being annual pass holders, I can confirm it was not only them. I have no idea how I, a Texan who had never even been to Disneyland, became a part of the pandom, but here we are. It was only like a year long phase, but still pretty significant. I was also 14 and actively running a one direction (mainly just harry) tumblr at the time, tho, so that’s probably the crossover
