As a person who celebrates Kwanzaa, this isn't even the kind of thing we do. There's no big "Kwanzaa cake" tradition, and if anything I feel weird that Google results are saturated with this mess if you Google "Kwanzaa cake." As a person who enjoys cake in general, that is not even what a harvest cake is.

Am just watching this now and got to the Hanukkah cake where she just shoves marshmallows into the middle. Those weren't even kosher marshmallows! That kind is either made with pork gelatin, or not labeled you so can't tell. I know this because I've had to hunt for halal marshmallows so I could make Rice Krispie squares that a couple of my daughter's friends could eat. It just feels plain rude to make something for Hanukkah that's not even trying to be kosher.

Okay so I can't stop thinking about the cardboard in the cake. I feel like she heard about cake supports in professional cakes (which are wrapped in something watertight and then, crucially, have supports like wooden dowels or boba straws to hold the cake layers up), and just didn't think about it at all after that. Without something holding up the cardboard, all this does is add an upsetting little paper layer in the middle???? And the cardboard is going to turn unto mush! You wont even be able to cut around it because your knife will go right through it! You're serving everyone a mushy leaning paper cake Sandra! Someone please take this video away from me

Unrelate to the actual video, I’ve been trying to find a good lip product that last through mask wearing and food eating, and the Maybeline Superstay Matte Ink lipsticks have worked pretty well for me! I made the mistake of wearing chapstick underneath and that didn’t work. They might be worth a try! They’re usually at like Targets and Walgreens and are pretty affordable. Sometimes it can be hard to get them off but not as bad as it was to get yours off

As a long-time semi-ironic fan of Sandra Lee, this made my day. Fun fact: she once wrote a romance novel called “The Recipe Box”. It’s exactly what you would think it would be.

Too be fair, applying too much icing and using cardboard (and other inedible structural things) is how professional cake decorating works. But, like you said, this situation sounds like you should be prioritizing edibility, and it's not really the sort of end result that you sacrifice ease of eat for.

Cardboard rounds are pretty standard in larger cakes but they should be covered in foil or plastic wrap or you're going to have soggy paper in your cake. That icing though.....

My mom had one of those serving things! It is essentially a big vase and all the wine glasses are on extra long stems that sit in the vase. the downside is they dont have normal bottoms like a glass, just the wierd long stem so you cant set it down the glass is either in your hand or in the vase there is nothing in between. if you want to find one i would recommend looking for the brand princess house or partylite they were like mlm tupperware party type brands where sellers would come to your house and throw a party and try to sell you crazy dishware shit like that.

The observation that she’s chasing flavor seems pretty sound. Edit: also I looked up the Kwanza cake thing and apparently there’s no one food for Kwanza. I want to make sure you're well aware Sandra Lee used to be the first lady of New York, she dated Cuomo for years while he was governor. She is truly our finest white lady, the pinnacle of succeeding for no reason at all.
