Ramble: Jenny plays Nancy Drew: Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon

This one's a doozy!

Ramble: Jenny plays Nancy Drew: Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon

Comments

Your “hm’s” are very Nancy Drew. Are you sure this is the first Nancy Drew you’ve played??

Kate Bryan

Is Jenny a champion show jumper 🐎 IRL???

Ryan Chin

"Take a powder" = "Go away" The idol with feet of clay refers to an important person with a hidden flaw or weakness. It's a Biblical reference, where someone had a dream about a statue with a golden head and feet of clay. The statue got destroyed, predicting the downfall of someone important. I knew the first one right away, but I had to look up the second expression.

Tracy Christenson

This was one of the best games that Jenny could play because of the haunted train. I second the person above who said that that she could also play Legend of the Crystal Skull for the spider and The Secret of Shadow Ranch for the horses. Other good ones would be The Curse of Blackmoor Manor (my personal favorite - I'd say why I'd particularly like to see Jenny play it but I can't without spoilers), Secret of the Old Clock (very retro), The White Wolf of Icicle Creek (cream that kid with the snowballs!) and Warnings at Waverly Academy (a touch of Dark Academia, and I'd like to see Jenny's assessment of the students).

Tracy Christenson

I agree!

FoxtrotArts

just scrolled down here to say you def need to do this again

I love the ND games so much. I would watch you play every one of them!

Emily Lewis

new patron here - love your sister 🤍 you guys have a super cute dynamic in this vid! light gaming suggestion - did you ever play any of the scooby doo mystery computer games??? those (to my memory) were really fun and cute point/click adventures, i vividly remember the one that took place in a ghost town was such a fave in my childhood!!

Renegade

this video is so cute jenny <3 i grew up playing nancy drew games with my sister, so this is super nostalgic and comforting. play castle malloy pls and thx

Elisabeth Spencer

I haven't watched the video yet but I happened to see your comment. I'm assuming April 14 is referring to a different event which, at the time, might be viewed as "the end" of the war. That being Lincoln's assassination.

It's really interesting that the guy at the end has a letter dated April 14, 1865 hoping for the end of the Civil War, but the civil war actually ended on the 9th.

At around 2:12, you’re right! You can’t make 2 with those coins. You can only make odd numbers if you use all of those.

Deepti Kannapan

The front of the puzzle box shows the wolf eating the cat and the cat eating the peacock, indicating that these are the 2 pairs that can't be left alone

Void WL

i played these games with my sister growing up. i just moved to a dif state and miss my sister so much and watching u 2 interact made me so happy and also cry

my sister and I grew up on these games and this was one of our favorites! watching you and yours play it definitely took us back, this has been one of my favorite patreon videos of yours now :)

Adrienne

For all your snake-related furniture needs you should really check out “From the mind of Christine McConnell” on youtube.

This was so fun to watch!! Also, as someone who plays a lot of Nancy Drew w/ my friend- you finished this perfectly fine! A lot of the games have a very tedious 'puzzle' right at the end, and we have looked up the solutions to a lot of them. These games are fun, but spending an hour on one puzzle right at the end can really sour the ending.

April Feldman

just found out the woman who voiced nancy drew in this game also did a ton of voices for the land before time game(s?) and voiced all of bowser’s kids in a bunch of mario games

Bethany

Kate Mulgrew is really the only choice to play the novelist.

Austin P. Smith

I have dreams all the time where I’m both watching a version of a movie and IN the movie! Glad I’m not the only one who has those lol

Lindsey Keefer

The Nancy Drew games were my childhood- this was so nostalgic ;-;

The reason why Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys are all frozen somewhere in their late teens or early 20s is that the Stratemeyer Syndicate had many other children's book series before them, and the reason why you don't know much about these other, earlier series is that the characters in those series did progress in age. The characters in the earlier series grew up throughout the series, developed careers, got married, and had kids of their own, and at that point, they couldn't be teen adventurers or young adult detectives anymore, so the series had to end. The very first Stratemeyer Syndicate series was the Rover Boys, which started in the 1890s and featured three brothers, who were sort of prototypes for the Hardy Boys. The Rover Boys attended a boarding school and had adventures with their friends and their wealthy adventurer father. (These books are public domain now, and you can read them for free online, but I can't recommend them because they're not really as good as the Hardy Boys and they're some of the most racist children's books I've ever read. The one where they go to Africa is the worst!) Over the course of the series, the boys grow up and graduate from school and get married, and then, there was a spin-off series with their sons attending boarding school. The spin-off series was basically like the first one but with cousins instead of brothers. The precursor to Nancy Drew was a character named Ruth Fielding. Ruth was a similar sort of character to Nancy, but she was an orphan in the 1910s who went to live with a disagreeable, penny-pinching uncle. Ruth also went to boarding school and had adventures with her friends on school breaks. Over the course of the series, she finished school, graduated, and went to college with her friends. In college, there was a dormitory fire, and she and her friends made a student film (silent movie because that's what they had at the time) to raise money for repairs. It was so successful that Ruth got interested in the film industry. She went to California and became an actress and movie scenario writer and worked her way up in the film industry until she owned her own film company, like the real life silent film actress Mary Pickford. For a good part of the series, Ruth has adventures and solves mysteries on the sets of the movies she works on. Then, the twin brother of Ruth's long-time friend proposes to her, but she doesn't accept him right away because she doesn't want to give up her career. They eventually get married when he agrees that she can continue her career, even though he's wealthy and can support a wife without her needing to work. Before the end of the series, they have a baby girl of their own, but the series sends shortly after that. The Stratemeyer Syndicate started publishing the Hardy Boys books immediately after the Rover Boys series ended, and they started writing Nancy Drew shortly before they brought the Ruth Fielding series to an end. They liked the basic format of the stories in these series and those basic types of characters, but they made the decision that their characters would not age from that point forward so they would never have to end either series. These Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys are over 90 years old now, and they are still ageless. Every decade or two, they just write new books or start new series sets with the characters or revise old ones to update language, slang, and technology in the stories to keep them roughly contemporary with the time of writing, but that's it. It's basically what they do with new Scooby-Doo series now, but Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys books did it first.

Tracy Christenson

I'm really into vintage children's books, and when Jenny was talking about how people found it shocking that Nancy was having sex in that tv show, I felt like I should point out something about Nancy Drew that actually makes some nostalgic adults feel a little odd about her - Nancy Drew never ages and never will age. She is perpetually frozen in her late teens or early 20s, and it's usually left vague which of those it is, kind of like Scooby-Doo characters, except Nancy has been like that for decades before Scooby-Doo was created. Nancy has a boyfriend, but she's never going to get married. Canonically, Nancy isn't even studying for a career. Do you know what Nancy really dreams of doing in the future? No, you don't because she doesn't have any stated life ambitions. She is an amateur detective, not a professional detective, and she's not formally studying criminology. If she attends any classes in books, movies, tv shows, or computer games, they're always isolated classes, not part of any stated program of study or related to any future career plans because Nancy Drew doesn't have any. She can't have any and never will by design because, if she had any or was following any school or training program for anything, people would expect to see progress in it, and if there was progress in it, Nancy would have to age, and eventually, she would be too old to be a teen detective, and the series would have an end. Nancy Drew is purposely left somewhat vague as a character so she can be or do anything that the current story requires. She can take a journalism class or a museum internship or accompany friends at an archaeological dig or go on a whale watch or visit an old theater or do volunteer work at any number of interesting locations without any of these having anything to do with one another or relate to anything else going on in her life. That's fun and leaves the character flexible, but the unsettling part is the realization that there is nothing else going on in her life. Nancy is always free to travel somewhere to visit a friend and help them with their latest problem because she has no other obligations in her life to interfere. She never turns anybody down because she can't take time off of work or school because she doesn't have either of those on a regular basis. Because of this, Nancy's life never really progresses, and her relationship with Ned never really progresses. In some of the books and shows where Nancy appears alongside the Hardy Boys, there's often an implication that Frank and Nancy have crushes on each other, but they never really progress to anything, either. While a lot of us are a bit nostalgic about Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, it does have an unnerving feel about it when you begin to analyze it because they don't age or progress, and they don't have futures that they're working toward. I think it's implied that the Hardy Boys are apprenticing to be private detectives under their father, who is a private detective, but Nancy is like a blank slate, with no definite ambitions of her own.

Tracy Christenson

"It's not like their name is BOXCAR!" :D

ceoln

opening the video was like oh my god, jenny the mad-lad, she's done it, she's having a crossover with an alternate universe version of herself

Mau

There is a drinking game here for how many times Jenny says coins starting at around the 2hr mark...but then you'd most certainly die of alcohol poisoning.

Alex Karassavidis

The way she “hmm”ed just like Nancy

Why was her dream about the movie Lamb actually like really similar to what actually happened in the movie even though she hasn’t seen it? Lmao

Kelsey Barton

FINALLY THANK U

Sandra Lee

Oooo I just peeped this was posted on my birthday haha, what a treat!

Hey top tierriers, could you submit something to do with Avatar? ty

Olivia Louise

I grew up with these games, and I still play them and know them by heart. It's so exciting to see my favorite youtuber play a game that is so dear to me

Did you guys know there's a 90s adventure game called Dinotopia that features dinosaur puppets/animatronics in FMV?

The Subreddit for spoiled Drag Race content calls themselves "Nancy Drews" which I think is so funny.

Nicholas Nagawiecki

Okay, genuinely wondering if this is related to why I have recently been plagued with YouTube ads for the Nancy Drew games, despite having no prior knowledge of them, and zero interest in any aspect of the franchise...

Half the voices are voiceover artist Mona Marshall. She's most known for voicing women on South Park and anime dubs for things like Pokemon. I recognised her gravelly little boy voice right away!

Joshua Marchant

This was the first Nancy Drew game I ever played as a kid! For me it was very enjoyable and started a (continuing) love of the somewhat clunky mystery games. I had like 8 pages in a notebook filled with my horrible child handwriting and very useless transposed diagrams - I probably still have it around. I think I've only revisited this game once, but I've played a bunch more of them and it still holds a special place in my heart ❤️. It was so fun to see an adult play through for the first time and encounter the same puzzles that ate up half my summer when I was like 9. I'm fairly sure I cheated on the slug puzzle 😅 Thanks to you and your sister for keeping me company and taking me on a train right back to nostalgia canyon!

Mady, you know, from TV

Alright, time for an info dump that nobody asked for about this game: - Nancy is on the train because Lori's parents know the Hardy boys' parents and they invited her to come along. - There was an infinite version of the Camptown Races horse jump game on the Her Interactive website many years ago. Looks like all the minigames they used to have on there are gone, though. RIP. - The "for girls who aren't afraid of a mouse" slogan was about computer mice and also poking fun at the stereotype of women being scared of rodents. They changed the slogan later since they did have a decent number of guys who loved the games, too. - I think someone else already commented about this, but the fishy fin was on that little ad/paper thing you found in the chest near the Hardy bros. That's how they expect you to know it's a hand from the deep. - The letter from the guy who talked about the lamps and carbide was "from" a real guy! Another one of Jake's famous friends who was an actual person. :) - There are some ND games that have actual coins scattered all around for you to find! Some games have currency and they'll have little shinies pop up around the environment for you to collect. - For that final puzzle, there's a fire pit somewhere in the mine with rocks that have images and numbers on them. The rocks indicate you pull the symbols by the cactus, fire, snake, weird thing, fish, and then bats. It really is a struggle to find all the stuff you need for that. (Still not as bad as the puzzle at the end of Phantom of Venice, though. Ugh.) - The escape from the mine is a lot simpler than you think, haha. You're just supposed to lean away from the scary death signs. The side the sign is on is the side that kills you. Anyway, this was super fun to watch! There are a ton of these games so you could totally play another one if you want to. ;)

I have synesthesia too! 8 is definitely a deep purple.

This was so much fun to watch! I loved that your sister was in it, she seems so great and I loved your interactions . It made me miss my sister!

Becca H

My husband has a work trip this week so I'll be spending my Valentine's Day watching this! I've loved these games since I was five. I used to live near the company that made them and for a few years, I got to go into their office occasionally to test puzzles and they would send me beta copies of the games for testing. Looking forward to seeing how your playthrough goes! :D

Thanks for doing this! Fun video. I watched almost 3 hours of it even though I don't know the IP or the game and I didn't vote for it. Thanks Obama. (jkjk) I thought it was interesting when you were talking about how dolls don't have last names. I think I heard once that Barbie's full name is Barbara Roberts. IDK. 3 feels very green to me. 5 is definitely yellow because of the 5 golden rings! I hope you're doing good and that you do the pokemon one next!

PamperYamper

I really enjoyed this and appreciate the effort. So glad that I joined Patreon.

Consuelo Martin

Wow, thirty-nine year olds were in class?

Mr Cheeks

I watched at half speed

fluff_diva

Bruh, you could have edited it down to 30 mins.

Mr Cheeks

I watched this instead of the S*per Bowl and it was so worth it. Great video!

This felt like a cute slumber party, 10/10 content

when i was in fourth grade my teacher let us play through one of these nancy drew games as a class and im she thoroughly enjoyed listening to thirty nine year olds try to figure out collectively what to do

Texie

Jake Hurley was born in 1870s Philadelphia. He is from The Village from M Night Shyamalan’s The Village

max teeth

This was amazing!! I would love to see you and your sister play through the Barbie carnival mystery game, too, that one is so crazy.

Jenna Wren

Wow, thank you for this epic video! If I’d been playing that game (at any age) I would have rage-quit at so many points… so I admire your perseverance and good humour about it all. Also great to see another crossover with your sister, for her moral support/mockery.

Dee Crosier

Yes! Your sister joined! This is no longer a parasocial relationship... this is a parasocial FAMILY <3 lol

Rose Stachowicz

I watched with my Squishmallows, Wendy the big frog and Philippe the little Valentines frog with heart-shaped cheeks. Frogs are the best Squishmallows

Adrienne R

I was listening to this, and it took me way too long to realize that "slugs" were not the animal slugs. And boy was I disappointed.

When your sister asked what color you thought 3 was, I said "orange" out loud and then felt so validated with your immediate followup

Towers of Hanoi

Would definitely love more obscure game vids!

AMAZING WORK STAR DETECTIVE

Kenzie Morrison

Rouge the bat is Nancy Drew???

I was a huge fan of the Nancy Drew games growing up, and I have to second this!! UHS is super helpful

Adrienne

Hey Jenny, if you wanna play Meepit Juice Break you still can! (I logged into the site for the first time in years just to check if it's still there, darn you! I never did earn the avatar...) http://www.neopets.com/games/game.phtml?game_id=379

"This is getting out of hand! Now there are two of them?"

Andrea Federica

How bout every ramble is this I LOOOOVED these games when I was a kid

Ren ☆

major props for figuring out most of the puzzles without a walkthrough! that's a tough thing to do

Alida H

If Jenny ever plays another Nancy Drew game, it should either be Shadow Ranch for the horses or Crystal Skull for the spider

I believe the game explains he died of a heart attack.

Wait, but how did the original engineer die?

Anna Mott

Actual spoilers for Lamb- you guessed right about 80% of the actual ending lol

Yoav Fine

I had to crunch the numbers to double check the slug thing. She had 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, & 8. Which adds to 27, so the closest halving of that is 13 and 14 which gives a +/-1 on the scale. Then it gets weird and hard for me to see without writing it down: If you take one from the other pile it becomes 12 and 15 leading to a 3 on the scale. It seems that having only 6 slugs that added to an odd number is why it wouldn't work. I'm sure there's some fancy seeming number-theory principle here, but who needs to name it when y'all can feel it with your high midi-chlorian counts.

David A Behlman

Same boat! I may have to tackle it in shifts and without headphones, but I gotta get my Jenny Content Fix damnit!

Ooh and if you ever do another Nancy Drew game, check out the Universal Hint System (ex for this game: https://www.uhs-hints.com/uhsweb/ndrew13.php). They have really great hints for most ND games, where you can find a specific puzzle and get everything from a light nudge to a full solution depending on what you want to see, so you can get help without spoilers. Basically, it's like having your sister's help without making her stay up until 3am (though it was fun hanging out with the two of you!).

Cedonia Peterson

Well that was a lot of fun, and now I also really miss escape rooms. Thanks a lot for making it. I was right there with Jenny when she knew she needed one more slug. I was wracking my brain and it was mathematically impossible and for a second I thought I was going crazy. Also the duct tape thing sure was a weird make-work cul-de-sac (it's like they designed all the puzzles in advance and realized they had one left over), and that final mine puzzle was messed up, the second Lindsay explained how to solve it I'd have been googling a walkthrough, Jenny did the right thing.

Dan Gibbins

Him or 90s Devon Sawa.

Dan Gibbins

There must always be a light Jenny and a dark Jenny to maintain balance.

Terraform23

I had a brain crisis in the very beginning. "TWO Jennys????"

Lovely

This was great! I love Nancy's blase reaction to someone trying to murder her, she mostly seemed annoyed.

Monica McFadden

on pewdiepie — recently stumbled across his book review series where he genuinely reviews classic literature like Crime and Punishment and Discourses of Epictetus. it feels very surreal to hear him talk about stoic philosophy. the comments are like “hey pewds have you read marcus aurelius’ meditations?”… anyways I find him to be a very strange figure because he makes content for a mainstream audience but as an individual he seems to have a lot of cool, niche interests

milky piggy silky creamy donkey steam

No spoilers, but I think maybe you actually saw Lamb lol.

Also if you ever do this again, for goodness sake, just take pictures of things like the dance diagram on your phone! It’s so much easier to do that and delete it from my phone’s camera roll once I’m done with the game, vs trying to record and decipher complex diagrams I copied by hand.

Cedonia Peterson

On my second watch through I just noticed the fishery ad at the very beginning of the game says “hand of the deep” and has pictures of fins identical to the apparatus at the end. Makes me have a little bit more respect for the game that that puzzle wasn’t just stupid.

I love this so much. Also, I’m pretty sure the Valentino guy is also in White Wolf of Icicle Creek as a phone contact.

Cedonia Peterson

I also had the Barbie Carnival Mystery game!!!! I'm not a high tier patron but omg I really hope we get that in the future!

Casper Hope-Tindall

That was very entertaining to watch, and I don't blame you at all for cheesing that final puzzle.

Matthew McCoy

Great video! Who else was sitting there wondering how long it was going to take them to figure out that it was impossible to get the slugs to balance to 2 because it was always an odd number? I felt like I wanted to yell at the screen haha.

Jeff McManus

I like your sister SEWWWW much

Sophia Rose Coffey

I actually really liked the new Nancy drew show. I had such rock bottom expectations. The actors were really good and I loved Ned's backstory

Logged on to see the reaction to Boysenberry

The lady with the hat at the beginning should be Jennifer Coolidge. Also, this Nancy somehow sounds older than the CW’s.

Jiminy's Journal

I have a disability that makes it hard for my body to reliably get enough blood to my brain and watching you guys struggle to get 2 on the scale made me faint twice in a row because I was laughing so hard. Your sister quoting that stupid Drake lyric took me straight out

Casper Hope-Tindall

Hour in and Det. Jenny Drew has a good start.

Dundough Breadbox

I am powering through my misophonia to still watch all of this because I like Jenny’s content that much.

Nathaniel Wilson

this whole video made me so happy. I first played this game late at night in my cousin's house in the middle of the night. the "MAMA" of the creepy doll scared us and made us crack up. Our uncle would gift us the games for birthdays and Christmases until I found them at Target and Best Buy and got them as soon as they were released. There are 33 of these games and, while they can be clunky and the UX isn't always perfect, they were always really important to me. The community around the games is also incredible. I was on the Her Interactive forums a lot, answering questions. I love people wanting hints without spoilers. AND it was my first fan fiction writing. They have rules on the site for posting "Alternative Endings" and other types of Fan Fiction on the forums. Some real wonderful nerds out there. Thank you for giving it a shot (Lindsay Twice!) and THANK YOU for everyone who voted for this lol!

Katie Gogerty

If you'd like to go on a train trip that will remind you of this game, try the Durango and Silverton Railroad in Colorado. I've been on the trip before, and I loved it! https://www.durangotrain.com/

Tracy Christenson

In the original Nancy Drew books, George's name was simply "George" from birth, and the explanation is that her mother was very close to her Uncle George, wanted to name her child after him, and didn't let it stop her that her child was a girl, but fortunately, George turned out to be a tomboy and didn't mind the boyish name. In later books, they say that George is short for Georgina and is just a nickname.

Tracy Christenson

IT CAN'T BE DONE WE DON'T HAVE THE COINS THAT WE NEED

Katie Gogerty

Alright, I have some CONTROVERSIAL opinions about number colors. 0: like TV static 1: white 2: navy blue 3: yellow 4: baby blue 5: red 6: purple 7: green 8: brown 9: orange ....it feels weird to put this out into the world...

Totesnotasheep

okay screaming, because i would die if jenny reviewed all the animal collective albums. i'm a huge anco fan, went to one of their concerts back in sept. ;-;

Creamer

So Escape Rooms are just the modern, IRL equivalent of Point and Click Adventure Games...

Dane Liergaard

I agree. The amusement park one was one of the easiest games for beginners and the only game that I solved without resorting to hints at some point, I think. But, the storyline wasn't as colorful, and there wasn't as much action.

Tracy Christenson

You and your sister had me in stitches when you were trying to work out the coins 😂 Thanks for doing this, it made my week

Kaelynn

the "hand from the deep" they TRIED to foreshadow that with the postcard of "flippy fins" lol but it doesn't stick and a lot of people might miss it

Katie Gogerty

lmao, "Thomasina" reminds me of that last season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills when on vacation one of the ladies accidentally walked in on another lady changing they started bullying her by saying "thomasina" which apparently means a female peeping tom.

Creamer

It's good!! It was definitely marketed poorly. It's not really horror, but if you want moody Scandi weirdness it's worth a watch. In terms of Icelandic films, it's probably one of the best.

Max S

Fun fact: Nancy Drew and Bubsy have the same voice actor.

Jubei

I'm glad to hear that you feel the same way I do about the hand from the deep and soft arm thing.

Tracy Christenson

Oh did you already go to Efteling? Looking forward to hearing what you thought!

Dane Liergaard

Yeah dunk on Pewdiepie lol

Dane Liergaard

this was the best birthday present i could ever ask for!!! if you ever feel inclined to do another one of these, secret of shadow ranch was a banger too.

Morgan Briggs

Years ago, I saw a doll at a thrift store that was dressed all in black and had a sad expression. It looked like a Victorian orphan in mourning. It was one of the creepiest dolls I've ever seen. I wondered why anybody would want a doll that looks permanently sad, but ever since, I've been fascinated by the idea.

Tracy Christenson

Watched this all in one sitting and enjoyed it immensely. Slug balancing was my highlight of the experience, gotta love that twos method.

Shaun Cheah

My aunt also had realistic dolls that were permanently crying with sculpted on years. I hated having to sleep in the doll bedroom.

Jamie

Next month should be a collab with hbomberguy in which you speedrun Nancy Drew!

BestStressed

Yes! Watching this tonight.

Dundough Breadbox

===================== JENNY (drawing a chart of the dance steps): I'm gonna use this. I think I can do it with this. SISTER (examining the drawing): ...I think you can. ...30 seconds later... JENNY (attempting the puzzle): You don't think my chart's going to work, but I think it is! ===================== The sibling energy is strong in this one! Thanks for bringing on your sister; it made for a really fun watch. Hopefully she can make guest appearances in the future if another stream-friendly topic wins.

Richard Reeves

i LIVED off of these low quality flash games as a kid, this brings back so much nostalgia

Hope Reed

Nancy Drew is semi-famous? In some of the books she has notoriety for solving cases, but her dad is also a famous lawyer. Some of the villains recognise her because of this, and she often becomes a target.

Marius Kennedy

Yeah, of the six slugs, three were odd. So there'll always be an even number of odd slugs on one side (which makes that total even), and an odd number of odd slugs on the other (which makes that total odd). An even number minus an odd number is always odd.

David Barry

fwiw, I personally think the amusement park story ND game is a little boring. This was much more entertaining.

Devin Beliveau

Correct: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lani_Minella

Rime Pendragon

Maybe I will....... I think I saw a tiktok that showed it had the little animations that play on the outside like japanese flip phones? I usually get androids for the camera, how is that

Jenny Nicholson

But does he go BLEHHHHH when he does it

Jenny Nicholson

wow three hours. thank you !

Gussie Ruck

your sister's outfit though.. amazing

"I think George is gay" me, gay and named George: :0

George Dodd

Yikes, I don't really have any interest in seeing Lamb, though your dream version sounds good. But someone spoiled the ending!

David A Behlman

Just amazing, glad the Drew crew won. This reminded me of the late nights at my grandparents playing these kinds of games with my siblings, I haven't thought about that in too long.

Aaron Lutes

The whole game and a 3+ hour runtime! Thanks for going the extra mile with this Jenny!

Rushka Unverricht

your expectations of pewdiepie’s content are too high, all he does is react to reddit posts.

Brorsan

I also think the cheeseburger joke from this game is based on a joke from the old 1970s Hardy Boys tv show. In the first episode of that show, the boy order a couple of cheeseburgers in a haunted house-themed restaurant because they need a reason to hang around and talk to someone who works there. Joe is picky about what they put on the cheeseburgers, and Frank asks him why he's worrying about that. Joe insists that if they're going to pay for the burgers, they ought to be the way they like them. Frank says that he'd like to see Joe follow someone more than a block without stopping for a cheeseburger, like this is a thing with him. Then, when Frank chases their current suspect, Joe stays behind and eats both of the cheeseburgers.

Tracy Christenson

Further fun fact: In the version of the first Boxcar Children book that most of us know from childhood, the cause of the parents' death is never revealed. They are dead by the time the story begins, and the children never explain how it happened. However, the very first edition of that book, written in the 1920s, actually had the father's death in the first chapter, and he drank himself to death. The reason why the children are so resourceful is that they basically had to take care of themselves and their father before he died. When the author decided to turn this book into the first in a series in the 1940s, she revised it to remove that disturbing episode in the first chapter, and she changed the children's last name from Cordyce to Alden, which is an easier name for children to read.

Tracy Christenson

If you really like escape rooms, check out the Zero Escape series of video games! They are visual novels whose core gameplay is escape rooms. All of them are on PC, and the story is great!

Aaron Fontes

This was a great video and my favorite ramble. Thank you for taking the time to cut out a lot of the filler, while keeping the core game intact. Would have been happy with the uncut version, but the editing kept the game going.

Michael

Normal people: "Oh look, Jenny's sister!" Me: "AHH! THERE ARE TWO JENNYS"

Rhetoric Al Leigh

Oh, Jenny, you have to brush up on your classic children's literature! The Boxcar Children are orphans. In the first book, they run away after their parents' deaths and hide out in an old boxcar, living independently, because they know that their only other relative is their grandfather, and they always heard that he was a mean man, so they don't want to live with him. However, they eventually meet him, find out that he's nicer than they thought, and go to live with him. He's a very wealthy man, and he moves their old boxcar to his backyard so they can use it as a playhouse. He funds other adventures for them throughout the series or provides them with other opportunities for adventure through friends or connections. The Hardy Boys are a pair of brothers, and Hardy is their last name. Frank is the older one, and Joe is the younger brother. Their father is a private detective. The Hardy Boys are a Stratemeyer Syndicate series, which means that they were all written by ghost writers working for the same company that produced Nancy Drew, and that's why they're often associated with each other.

Tracy Christenson

Well I’ll be. Never thought I’d live to see the day 😍

Moira Laidlaw

I'm happy to have the video, but I wish it was edited down to ~30 mins.

Mr Cheeks

Lindsay dismissing The Two Method was also hilarious in that way.

Trevor Atwood

That was great reminded me of how comfy the twitch streams used to be. Now did anyone actually watch Lamb? Is it worth a watch or was Jenny's dream better and that's all I need to know?

Luis

not 90s sitcom but drama, joe hardy is james van der beek as dawson leery from dawson's crrek

Dorothy's Friend

When you're in Orlando next you should check out The Bureau escape room. They have one where you team up with a Muppet and it is truly the coolest experience I've had in an escape room. It's called the Puppet Heist, and you get to carry him around with you and use him to solve puzzles. We were laughing the whole time, it was so fun

Leesah

oh man it finally happened.

IShallRiseAgain

"Why are you so sure they're twins?" ".....They're the same height" literally me playing games pretending I'm paying attention to the story, thank you for a great ramble this month!

Totesnotasheep

Where'd Jenny get that computer background? It looks so good!

Zirosto1

I love the Nancy Drew games by Her Interactive! I've played this one 3 times just because it's one of my favorites.

Tracy Christenson

Uh Mark Twain couldn't have known about boysenberries, as he wrote Tom Sawyer in 1876 and the inventor of boysenberries wasn't even born until 1895! A clue, a clue!

Jayna Bates

Yeah was about to comment this. I was BEYOND excited and the food noises are triggering my misophonia like crazy. I tried to power through but my anxiety is just too much. I'm so sad

This is mostly irrelevant but I have one of those flip phones and they really are very cool and the crease isn't bad and samsung make very very cute cases!

Sophie Weston

i'm very sorry you were pressured into doing this, by me.

one hundred folks

Am I crazy or does Nancy sound like Adventure era Rouge the Bat??

What does "calling patrons every week" even mean? Like, on the phone? Are we supposed to give Jenny our phone numbers?

Bullseye

I'm one minute in and you're already wrong; we live for nonsense commentary. :)

Poor Richard

Oh lord this game looks like a nightmare to play with all the walking back and forth throughout the train - not to mention the mines! 😅 Thank you for your sacrifice Jenny!

Kim Stroberg

3 is yellow for sure.

Daniel Andruik

Currently at 2:07:00 and had to do actual math to realize that the puzzle was impossible with the slugs she had. Annoying of the game to do that; it really seems like it should be possible, but it turned out those slugs will always give you an odd balance no matter how they’re arranged.

Jackson Bockus

I'm shocked that Jenny didn't play the horse game first! Secret of Shadow Ranch is one of my favorite games in the franchise

"math isn't something you know, it's something you feel"

IM SO EXCITED

Orissa Meyrink

Big fan of the 2 method. Also, since you reminded me of Meepit Juice Break.... here's the song from it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvSyZyx7bpg

Trevor Atwood

Haven't watched yet but thanks so much for working so hard on this! It had to be a lot to edit. We definitely appreciate you.

Steph K

It's fun having this on in the background and hearing out-of-context lines like "I need more slugs to get to the cherry."

Bryan Sutton

1 is an orangey red 2 is a yellowy green 3 is forest green 4 is periwinkle 5 is a deep orange or bronze 6 is ocean blue 7 is a light orange 8 is a dark purple 9 is magenta 10 is gold

Sara Nicole

The hype I have for this is off the charts

3 hours yes!!

Josh Marjonen

Watching y'all be confused by the skull signs when the skull sign is literally always on the dangerous side of the mine was the most infuriatingly hilarious part of this video.

AmazonRhinos

All these gemstones - like the Nancy Drew Infinity Stones.

Stephen Gillie

"Stop making assumptions about my brand!" is an all-timer

trevbot_exe

If you have a browser that can handle flash games, Meepit Juice Break is still playable on the site! Now I want a Neopets stream :)

Sam

your sister making faces while trying not to give spoilers is so entertaining

I am withdrawing from alcohol addiction and this is the only joy in my life right now.

Nancy Drew's voice in these games is iconic. It does not match the character of a teenager nor does her line reads always match what's happening. But, I get to imagine Rouge the Bat is doing all the detective work, which is nice.

Joel Eblin

Can't really watch this cos I find the eating noises triggering/gross (I think at least some of your neuro-divergent viewers would feel the same) but am glad others can enjoy it!

Tom Murtagh

Bless your heart for posting a 3 and a half hour cut

Aaron Lutes

yes yes yes yes yes

Eric Corra

Was it bad in a funny way though? Debating going to see it for b-day

Callum Moore

Thank you Jenny!! I needed some quality entertainment to make me forget about Moonfall (2022) 😖

Luis

The "Cumbres & Toltec" railroad is made of old, restored trains that still chug through the Colorado mountains - if anyone is interested. I think they are light on mystery, though.

Eric Englebretson

Yesssss!!!! So excited!!

Jenna Wren

i just shrieked like a sissy

At last!

Michael

Ok, unfortunately I've gotta go to sleep so I've had to skip to the updates and jesus Patreon has become so weird. Like I already cringe when podcasters and content creators start to refer the random people who watch them as their "compassionate community"/family and I'm pretty sure there are at least 5 podcasts/channels that I unsubed because they started doing these shady parasocial stuff. But like encouraging calling the patrons every week and give them nicknames feel like a classic trick from a Scientology recruitment book. Man, with that and the whole crypto stuff- I'm getting scared that Patreon might be interested of becoming a platform for cult leaders. Anyway, thx for mentioning the survey and being honest about it.

Yoav Fine

I just started, but I genuinely hope you (and your sister!) had a blast doing this! I started watching random ND play thrus on YouTube just because someone kept suggesting it here. They look so fun!

Devin Beliveau
