Brandon's notes from the Treasure episode

Hello, it's brandon! before the treasure episode I went through every game and wrote a short sentence to remind myself what I thought about it. Maybe you'll get something out of it!? Here it is!!

--
- gunstar - the closest treasure ever got to being the treasure everyone thinks about.

- mcdonalds treasureland - one of the best songs ever in a treasure game, ghost ship, and otherwise chill.

- dynamite headdy - I like this one, it's got two different versions as well, japanese mega drive version has dialog after story events and is easier.

- yu yu hakusho, has combos, pretty good, low frames are noticeable but good music.

- alien soldier - too difficult to perform basic functions for me. neat ideas but would've benefited from more buttons, or a different control scheme entirely.

- light crusader - flirted with some fun ideas of stacking and physics but never really got there. otherwise just a decent easy action rpg.

- guardian heroes - it's fine. the three lane thing isn't that great and I don't like how the action feels. sorry! it's cool how it starts in a burning building though, and it uses the saturn's strengths well. honestly too much text. the multiplayer arena is a fun gimmick.

- mischief makers - I just don't like it. I get it but I don't like it.

- silhouette mirage - probably my second favorite treasure game. I don't actually care for the color switching mechanic at all, I just think it's a good run and gun with great graphics.

- radiant silvergun - keep vacillating over the years between "it's fine" and "it's pretty good." branching paths thing is kind of fun. also 30 dogs to collect in saturn mode, some of which you can only get after getting other dogs, and which unlock other things too.

- rakugaki showtime. fun that you can play as marina. lots of throwing. it's fine but the core mechanic just isn't really there, feels unfinished.

- bangai-oh. I'm bad at it but I think it's neat. fun to watch vince play it.

- sin and punishment. one of the least n64-looking n64 games. I love looking at it but I can't get around the controls. you're better off playing this on an emulator with custom controls.

- silpheed - honestly forgot I had played this, never felt like there was much to it. Does sound like silpheed though which is neat, for a game to have a distinct soundscape.

- stretch panic - booby ladies aside, this game has a neat movement mechanic and you can use the ground as a shield, and it felt fresh at the time. Now, I'm not so sure.

- ikaruga - it's fine! I don't think it's fun to do this kind of puzzle.

- tiny toons buster's bad dream - super repetitive. I wanted to like it but couldn't get there.

- hajime no ippo - it's punch out, I didn't play it.

- wario world - didn't play it.

- dragon drive d masters. fun music. I didn't play it significantly.

- astro boy - it's fine. reminds me of more complex buster's bad dream actually. feels repetitive and fiddly and I couldn't quite get into it.

- gradius v - fine?

- advanced guardian heroes. kinda makes you wonder if you really liked the first one after all. doesn't feel super finished, not much heart in it.

- gunstar super heroes - much better try but I still don't like it. also unnecessarily difficult.

- bleach. didn't play any of them for more than 5 mins.

- bangaioh spirits. it's neat. I like the maps being transferred via the mic.

- sin and punishment star successor. think I played it for 5 mins.

- gaist crusher. kinda nothing I dunno. not "treasure" in the sense that we think of.

and that's it!! now you can see why I was quiet on some of these! ha ha.
