In regards to edutainment style games and them being made today; I know a few teachers that have the ability to make their own games for kids. It’s very simple template style, no real character animations or anything. But teachers have the ability to setup mini games for kids to do on their take home laptops. And games via the Promethean board. So while it’s not Carmen Sandiego or Jumpstart, games are still being used in school made by teachers.
