I've decided to start typing it Hallowe'en. I hope you all had a good one!

Ramble: Dream Hallowe'en Dark Ride

Would love to see a main channel video reacting to the latest Epic Universe/Dark Universe updates!

Listening to you talk about theme parks probably going through a financial hardship soon (about 19:00) right after experiencing 2020 is very funny "I'm not worried about the possibility of them all closing" lol

Ghostfellow

I thought of another one with a funny/spooky twist: Picture the riders on a little train that's going through a spooky town. All of the buildings in the town are old, run down, dingy gray and brown, and all of the trees in the town are dead. All the inhabitants of the town appear fearful, and they tell the story of a ghost train that goes through their town, bringing misfortune with it. The riders witness horses suddenly getting frightened, what looks like a skeletal tree being struck by lightning, maybe a building catching on "fire" (you know, not really burning, but just kind of looking like it is) and various other frightening things. Toward the end of the ride, they actually go into a house that's the largest house in town, in the style of a Victorian mansion. The inhabitants of the house are holding a seance, and it turns out that they're the ones who have summoned the ghost train to plague the town, and in one bedroom of the house, there is a young girl animatronic who sings a haunting song about how "the ghosts are coming tonight", and then, she turns to the side and looks directly at the riders on the little train and screams an unearthly scream. If you haven't figured it out yet, the implication is that the riders of the ride are the ghosts riding the ghost train who have been summoned to the town. As the ride ends, they can go past "mirrors" like in the haunted mansion that make it look like ghosts are riding the ride with you, only these mirrors have projected ghost images that appear to replace the riders themselves.

My imaginary haunted house type ride: The Mystical Mansion of the Mad Magician. In my imagination, the backstory of the haunted house is that there was this famous magician who was known to perform amazing feats that no one could explain, but he became a frightening recluse after one of his tricks went horribly wrong and someone died. Ever since, mysterious colored lights and weird sounds are heard from his mansion, and rumor has it that weird creatures are seen on the grounds, but nobody ever sees the magician. Has he died and is now a ghost? What is he doing in there? You (and the other riders) are sent to investigate! In each room of the mansion, weird things from magic tricks are happening, like the magician's props have all come to life. There could be a living ventriloquist dummy, like you mention, and weird animals produced by magic jump out at you. At one point, you go through kind of mirror maze where things appear in the mirrors that aren't really there, kind of like the end of the haunted mansion ride at Disneyland. At the end, it turns out that the magician is dead and has been dead since his last trick went wrong. The real inhabitant of the mysterious mansion is his assistant who rigged the last trick to kill the magician so she could steal all of his powers and secrets. But, everything has been going wrong because she can't really understand and control these powers, which is why all of the magic equipment is going crazy and all of the animals that she's tried to produce magically have come out all weird. In the final room of the house, you have to face the evil assistant and defeat her in some kind of short riddle or game that requires you to shout a magic word that was hinted at in the beginning when you were given the introduction to the mansion as something to remember. (Your guide through the mansion could help prompt the people on the ride.) When the audience defeats the evil assistant, she vanishes, along with her weird menagerie of evil animals, and the audience is told that each of them has acquired a piece of the magic to take with them into the real world. It's a sweet sentiment, and there could be a gift shop next to the mystical mansion that sells magic tricks. I moved this description up from the comment below. Oh, as an alternative, it could turn out that the real magician is still alive, and he's been disguised as your tour guide all along. That would add more justification to the concept of him teaching you the "spell" to banish his evil assistant. Then, not only could they have the gift shop with magic stuff, but they could also have a small theater nearby, where there are magic shows.

Who else is revisiting this in 2020 and more than a little spooked by Jenny predicting the imminent downturn of theme parks “within the next few years”?

Casey McCallister

Ugh I love your sweater

Chelsea Counsell

I'm all about the pleasant mist. I found that Disney World gave a much more "polite splashing" than any other park I've been to. The worst was Jurassic Park in Hollywood during summer when they had "extreme water effects" on... It was a straight up water gun to the face AFTER the big splash.

Jay Taylor

Reminds me of Spooky World https://nightmarenewengland.com/

Thay

So I already have a there make be snakes shirt, can we get a “I don’t know... worms?” Shirt?

Anna

Can't wait for star wars land part 2!! Definitely keep doing your in-depth videos please :D

Callum May

I love your long, in-depth videos, even if YouTube doesn't want you to make money off of them! I'll wait as long as I have to for more Star Wars Land content from you.

Meredith Sutton

GHOSTS!

Steve Ray

All your videos are great, but I do really appreciate your in depth videos. Thank you!

Lauren Bromberg

there is a haunted themed hotel in japan that's kind of what you mentioned! https://soranews24.com/2018/08/30/usj-hotels-horror-themed-room-is-back-ensures-customers-wont-have-a-good-nights-sleep/

Prism

Missed the Porg in a Pumpkin Costume, the price of only listening to the audio.

Neil Dutton

Jenny's pretty defensive about not having Buzzy... seems a little... SUSPICIOUS

David Snyder

I have been checking back everyday to see when US tickets open up for sale and nada. You'd think they open the for presales itthis point.

Bree

Just wondering whatever happened to the lightsaber video you wanted to do? Along time ago...

Alive_in_tucson

Thanks jenayyy

Josh Marjonen

Thanks Jenne'e, another great ramble. Super looking forward to the continuation of the Star Wars Land series, your enthusiasm for the subject and the work you've done on it is palpable. It's great to know that patreon lets that stuff happen for you, and also keeps the nightlight on for any 'analytics' that might be scared of the dark.

Neil Dutton

studying abroad in latin america, the funniest thing about halloween here is that the only context they have for halloween are american movies. so nobody goes really high concept for their costumes it’s just really generic zombies, dracula, witch, fireman, soldier, etc.

dumb wh0re

Oh dang, I was reading the YouTube comments in that BB-8 video you linked and found Exurb1a and Max Landis in there, which led me to the latter's YouTube channel where I discovered a great video about wrestling but also the comments calling him out for getting metoo'd four months ago and apparently he seriously abused eight women (and those were just the ones that came forward). So that was a journey. But yeah that BB-8 video in an of itself is still great. Gotta call out a comment asking Jenny how she felt about her channel exploding and her reply is that she feels her next video probably won't go viral, and it's What If Rey was a Skywalker with 1 million views. Lol.

Shaun Cheah

I loved closing my eyes and imagining Spooky Land in my mind as Jenny described it. Really hype to hear that we're getting 3 separate Star Wars Land vids!!

Luis

Oh and I forgot to mention, for the record, her Star Wars Land "tale of trains video", is the specific video that motivated me to check if she had a Patreon. That video is beyond well done. If Disney+ added a show where Jenny had the production quality backing her in depth Disney essay videos, I would watch the hell out of that. . . Now that I think of it, Jenny's patrons are probably populated by adults who work and have the disposable income to support her and have the tastes to want a longer essay format video whereas the random 11, 14, or 17 yr old who feels like longer videos are too much of a time sink / not interested in a format that requires more patience to get to the end point. Maybe I'm being ageist, but I would think there's something to that.

Oh and the two Fifty Shades reviews too: how could I forget those. Football mouth & “I couldn't finish my soup." 😁😆 I guess my only point is that it’s all awesome so don’t shrink from the stuff you’re personally less proud of because that stuff from you is all awesome too.

Shred Cadmium

I don’t disagree with anything said about the high-effort vids and it’s a real privilege to in some tiny way contribute to those, but I will admit to a huge soft spot for those videos where Jenny swiftly reviews a recent film, and it’s a film I haven’t seen, and have no intention of seeing, and I’ve not seen any footage from it, nor even the trailer. (Examples include Joker, Jurassic World 2, Fantastic Beasts, Solo, Toy Story 4, & Greatest Showman.) So I would just say please don’t shy away from the odd bit of ‘clickbait’ on occasion! Really the most astonishing thing about the channel is there’s never any fluctuation in quality. It’s obvious that more work necessarily goes into some vids than others but I can’t think of any creator whose work is so varied & interesting but is nevertheless so ceaselessly entertaining.

Shred Cadmium

I love your high effort videos, they're why I became a patreon supporter. Also, as a UK based fan I've had the good fortune to visit Efteling and Symbolica is amazing. You'll love it.

Louise

Yay to effort, and yay to “SpookyLand”!

Dee Crosier

I became a patron and youtube subscriber because of your star wars land video. It was excellent work and compelled me to watch your other work. Keep doing what you love!

SEAN BADGER

I'm so excited to watch this

Pj Martin

Glad to hear that the next Star Wars Land video will come out in November unless a new movie comes out that you want to talk about. On a totally unrelated note, Frozen 2 opens on November 22.

Johnnie

I don't usually comment on stuff like this, but I just wanted to join in with everyone else saying that videos like Star Wars Land Pt. 1 are why I'm subscribed to your Patreon. Also, this was a very fun ramble, thanks Jenny!

Brett Buttle

I love the Spooky land idea. Do any dark rides offer interactive elements with the line or other people in the park? Like maybe they can set off percussive elements inside the ride itself or trigger lights/noise?

James Murphy

I've been saying for a long time Disney should make a full harry Potter land style park off of Halloweentown, the best Disney movie of all time. Ideally with a meet and greet with someone dressed as Debbie Reynolds

Matt E.

glad patreon is letting you have more freedom! love the simple videos but the essay-like ones are the ones i’m super here for

Taylor

If you're going to include aliens in Spooky Town then I think they should be in the corn field of the castle ride. They could be making a crop circle or something. But like they wouldn't be there every time, just on like every 10th ride through or something. Because aliens are just barely on theme enough that people would be like 'no, there's no aliens in the monster town, that doesn't even make sense' and some people would be like 'I saw them!!! In the corn field!'

Athena

Fantastic ramble; great job with the voting last month, everyone! I feel like leaning into stuff where there's a pre-existing passion like theme parks and spooky stuff is always great fodder for rambles. Also very pleased that Patreon is supporting the higher-effort videos and preventing demoralization. Glad to help!

Shaun Cheah

1. The Star Wars land pt.1 video is one of my favorites you've ever done. 2. About boats and dark rides: The Monster Mansion ride at Six Flags over Georgia has a boat track but the loading area is outside, meaning that every time it rains, the track floods because their pump system for the track doesn't work that great anymore. I went to Six Flags on this past New Year's Eve and it had rained the night before and morning of which meant the entire ride was flooded, which gave the already sad, dusty animatronics an even sadder appearance. I guess this is why Pirates of the Caribbean and Small World are entirely indoors. :/

Linnea Ryan

Definitely continue making videos you're passionate about! That's what makes us excited about them too :)

Brianna Surratt

Your Star Wars Land Part 1 video was what finally pushed me to join your Patreon. Thanks for all your work on the big videos like that! I can't wait to see Part 2!

Jessie Lipscombe

Pumpkin porg. Porg-kin. Piggy Porgkins 🎃

This reminds me of my idea for a pokemon dark ride. It would basically be pokemon snap themed Buzz Lightyear. You'd go through different terrains on a set track with interactive cues, and then at the end you get a random encounter with a legendary pokemon and there's a unique cinematic associated with each of them.

Paul Herberger

The simple videos are fun, but the complex ones are what I'm definitely here for and really enjoy. The Avatar theme park video came out the same week I went to Disney World for the first time and I actually enjoyed the place more after learning the quirky details of its making (and it gave me something to talk to the in-laws about who are huge Disney fans and I usually struggle to find common interests with). Looking forward to the continuing Star Wars Land saga.

Crystal Robinson

I really like the haunted hotel idea. I guess there are already haunted hotels, but those are just old buildings, and the staff gives you all kinds of history when you check in so that you get spooky feelings whenever you hear the pipes rattling or something. But I'm imagining something that would play noises like stomping and groaning, and maybe a little light could flash by your door. I guess the downside is the possibility of making it difficult for your guests to sleep, which is the purpose of a hotel. But hey, this is the experience you signed up for right? Don't stay here if you have an important business meeting in the morning. I dunno, I could see myself spending a night at something like that.

Bryan Sutton

Put effort into what you love Jenny!! They're always the best vids!

Verde

This was great Jenny! So happy to support you here and enable you to have the freedom to make whatever you wanna make.

Eric MacMillan

Looking forward to this one! But it must wait until after work tomorrow >.<
