I'll give it a try! I particularly like wine that has a sour finish so I've tried a bunch of chianti and garnacha and this is the one I like the most - but I'll take a look! (~brandon)

2021-09-09 00:57:41 +0000 UTCI can't believe I'm talking about natural wine on an insert credit post, but Brandon might enjoy the Litrozzo Rosso from Le Coste for an occasion with friends; it is not a Sangiovese blend like the chianti mentioned in this episode but it is pretty heccin good and low intervention wine rules. Thank you for bringing Jazz Jackrabbit to my attention - in the cover art for the second game he looks like he might have had too much chianti.

2021-09-07 01:49:08 +0000 UTCold games ARE too expensive and it would be nice if people could own them, and also this person doesn't really know what they're talking about, even if game grading is indeed a small part of The Collector Problem. (~brandon)

2021-09-06 17:24:23 +0000 UTCInteresting bit about that videogame grading/auction "scam" video, which I only just watched today at the behest of the youtube algorithm. Trying to keep this brief: (1) if I was publishing a bunch of accusations about people with a lot more money than me I'd want to rely a lot less on rumours and hearsay than he does (2) if the current surge in speculation is driving True Game Lovers out of the market then the sensible conclusion (to me) is that now is the time to stop fetishising games as physical objects and make do with some combination of flash carts/fpga/software emulation. Talking about video game collecting like it's a god given right is... I want to say unsettling? Anyway, this is not meant as a criticism of collectors generally, just saying that if the problem is old games are too expensive, well, there's a simple solution if what you really care about is playing them.
