I (brandon) get the impression it's more intense out in places like virginia where the scene actually still exists, vs places like the bay area where it's all legacy. any given pit here is generally pretty respectful, picking folks up off the floor when they're down, etc. Even someone like me who is generally a ping pong ball in a rock tumbler in there is able to survive with only minimal neck damage. The real issue is I'm elbow height for tall dudes who do that... marching action thing where their elbows go up in the air whatever that's called (it's like a chicken walk but I wouldn't say that to their face) so occasionally I catch one to the nose or mouth. Oops!

I had already completely forgotten that he played so you didn't miss much haha. And lmao yall certainly didn't make it easy on yourselves. We sat in the nosebleeds as well, I'm not cut out for the chaos that goes on down on the floor, though it was entertaining to watch (people were getting escorted out like every 15 seconds, I can't believe there was anyone left by the end)

There was a LOT of fire. Lord! I could feel it from back in the nosebleeds so I can only imagine how it was on the floor. Incidentally we had floor tickets but my buddy was convinced he knew how to scam the system and sold his floor tickets and bought nosebleeds, then spoofed them so that we could get on the floor and he'd make some money back. This was not correct and we totally got caught and we were very lucky we didn't get kicked out lol. It was a whole ordeal during which we were taken to the manager who was like "escort these gentlemen from the premises" and luckily a security lady was nice to us and let us stay. My buddy wound up having to pay an $800 fine to not lose his standing with ticketmaster. What a situation that was! I still saw the show though, we just missed ole white supremacist phil anselmo's set. this is brandon btw (lol)

I went to a show on that slayer tour also Brandon (in roanoke va) it was pretty good there was a lot of fire lol

The short answer to this is we are not sure. The long answer is I (brandon) did a lot of research into it after finding out about it and mostly uncovered a toxic scene with a lot of people being mean to each other, one of whom was merritt, and another of whom was the person accusing merritt of things. also, there was never anything specific mentioned that she did, everything was about a group ostracizing somebody. Now as for more recent stuff, she had some bad tweets about non-binary folk which she has walked back since, and after talking to someone close to that situation as well as our own editor we decided that wasn't bad enough to cancel the episode over. however: it remains complicated.

(this is brandon) yeah, we did a bunch of research after the fact, but didn't know about any of this beforehand. It's a whole situation, but the conversation on the forums is where we landed on it if anyone wants to see.

insert credit

hm, yeah. the policy has always been “guests can swear but we don’t” but I should definitely put a Language content warning in here. thanks fir the heads up! -esper

whoa! doesn't bother me but i'm 5 or 6 minutes in and uhhh you neglected to warn about some strong language in this episode!

goonbag
