Mega64 Movie Club: The First Slam Dunk
Added 2024-10-09 21:36:51 +0000 UTCRocco and Shawn watched the most basketball anime they could find this week when we picked The First Slam Dunk. Will Shawn like a sports anime? Probably right??!

I'd love if Shawn checked out Haiyku. Was never really into volleyball, but watching it made me wish I had back when I was in high school.

2024-10-11 00:53:43 +0000 UTCI wish you guys would watch a Makoto Shinkai movie like Your Name. I think these selections so far outside of Slam Dunk havenโt really been the right thing to get Shawn into the medium.

2024-10-10 23:35:47 +0000 UTCIโve been a fan of slam dunk for years and of course I loved this movie - but I especially loved hearing your takes on it! I will admit I was a bit surprised with just how little focus Sakuragi (red head) got even though I know itโs Ryotaโs story. I wonder if adding more of his context would have balanced out the basketball a bit more for Shawn and Roccoโฆ also I love Shawnโs interpretation that Rukawa only just learned how to pass in this game (instead of him just being self-absorbed lol)

2024-10-10 15:17:28 +0000 UTCThe new look back movie that was in theaters recently was really good I'd also suggest blue giant as a standalone anime movie too

2024-10-10 08:24:13 +0000 UTCMy professor in College made us watch Grave of the Fireflies for a WWII in the Pacific class, and I think that was the first movie that made me cry. Still haunts me emotionally to this day. Never saw Wolf Children so would vote for that.
