Dear friends of mine! It's been a while since I wrote to you. Here's a little update, with some things which may delight you:
First of all, in case you haven't yet seen in, here's a new video of mine! It's a solo Harmoniser rendition of the legendary Imogen Heap song "Hide And Seek", which inspired me to build a harmoniser in the first place.
Secondly, there's a documentary screening in Boston on Friday, about the crazy musical adventure I had in Boston in December with 200 musicians. It was an immensely special experience for me. The documentary is called "Imagination Off The Charts", and I'm pleased to be able to offer you Patrons free tickets! Click on this link to grab 'em (they'll go fast, so collect yours ASAP) http://tinyurl.com/collierscreening
Thirdly, I performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival this year with the Metropole Orkest (and Cory Henry), and it was so much fun! Here's my orchestral arrangement of 'Hideaway' from that gig: https://youtu.be/sY8pCnKSSVg
Fourthly, to all of you who came to see me on tour in the last three months, you ROCK! I just got back from South America, where I was playing in Brazil, Chile and Argentina. Before that, I was all over USA, Canada and Europe, in San Fran, Los Angeles, Tennessee, DC, NYC, Rochester, Saratoga, Rotterdam, Italy, Germany, Spain, Denmark, Switzerland, Norway. What fun we had!

In other news, the One-Man Show days are slowly coming to an end! This is a strange feeling for me – with the dawn of my second album on the horizon, the 'In My Room' era is beginning to make way for the next chapter. Stupendously thrilling though this is, it's a slightly sentimental feeling to be writing this to you!
That said, I am blisteringly excited about this next album (you may have guessed).
For the next tour, I'm going to be involving a few other musicians (mostly multi-instrumentalists) and I'll be working towards a sort of compound One-man-show with Band-show, which can achieve all the various magics of the Jacobean live-performance music-making format (without overwhelming you, nor me). Things currently on the cards are: Instrument-swapping, four-part singing, multi-human simultaneous looping, big jams, etc.
So... Here's a brainstorming question for you all. For those of you who have seen the One-Man show, I'd love your feedback! When do you feel the most magic? What do you love; where would you like to see it grow? What gives you the chills? What is most effective, sonically/instrumentally speaking? What makes you dance/smile? What blows you away, and what doesn't? What moments do you tell your friends about? Which elements do you think come close to representing your personal idea of 'Jacob' the best? Visually speaking (for those of you who have seen the show with video), what do you connect with (harmoniser faces, multi-jacob visual loops, audio-reactive circles, audio-reactive tree, general live jacob visualisation with kaleidoscope textural backdrop?), and which elements do you feel add (or subtract?) most from the show? Do you think that, with other musicians, it's worth developing or maintaining the looping capabilities, or not? What would you like to see visually, given that there will be so much to see already on the stage?
And finally... musically! What are your favourite moments from In My Room? What would you love to hear more of? Which songs do you most treasure?
I am so excited to share some of these new sounds with you!!!!
In the meantime – if you possibly can, grab tickets to see the One-Man Show before the end of the year! I adore it, and it's something I'm immensely proud of. It has taught me so much (and continues to), and I'd hate for you to miss it! These shows will be special, for sure. Check out dates here! http://www.jacobcollier.co.uk/shows
You guys rock.
Loads of love,
JC
