April Showers Bring Handheld Powers
Added 2023-04-02 17:27:43 +0000 UTCOh boy, is it April already, where did the time go? I could swear yesterday we were talking about our new professional wrestling careers, or something like that. Oh, wait no, it was just our New Years Resolutions to bring plenty of growth and change to our community, and still possibly wrestling careers? I'm still waiting on my Luchador uniform. In the meantime, we can talk about the other less violent changes and improvements that have either happened or are happening.
First let's talk about that shweet shweet Youtube content that we're pumping out to you. Our dedicated and talented video team is pumping out more and more exciting new content as we ramp up into a comfortable rhythm. Oh, and I guess Zu also has access to a camera and occasionally does... stuff in front of it. We even gave him his own little side channel to contain some of the weird. Retro Handhelds Gaming - YouTube is where he will be posting GOTX related snippets, since he somehow finds time to hide out in a bathroom and ignore his family for long enough to complete them all each month.
Speaking of which, since we're now in April, we get the double pleasure of getting both a new threesome of GOTM, as well as a new RPGOTQ to earn yourself some sweet GOTX points for even sweeter GOTX swag. Stubbs is currently taking the helm of producing and shipping that swag, so make sure you pester the Hell out of him until he sends you his tasteful nud- um, that cool RH sweater you wanted. We have a dedicated thread within GOTM Discussion called Redeem GOTX Points for claiming and using these points.
Of course, this change in helmsman comes with some unfortunate news, I hope you will forgive a brief moment of sincerity in the midst of our jest and levity. As many long-time patrons will already know, RH co-founder Thor has departed from our community indefinitely, for reasons personal and private. Being perfectly honest, it is a hard loss for all of us here and has left a hole in our hearts that will not soon heal. We offer our love and heartfelt well-wishes to him and his family as they venture onward into their next adventure.
We will soldier on, we will steel our resolve, we will venture forward into our next adventure as well. The RH Legend Handheld, secondary community 'Ctrl Alt Hype', and the RH Podcast (update: being re-worked instead of shut down!) are currently being closed down as active projects within our community, and we will update if any of those statuses change. Meanwhile, however, we have seen a refreshed organization to the RH Discord, we have added new staff members to maintain our ever-growing population of wonderful community members, and our website is due for a huge facelift, so keep on the lookout for that in the near future! Our means of community engagement continue to grow, our content library continues to grow, and our community continues to grow, and so we remain ever resolute in our mission to make RH the best damn handheld community on the internet!
So, speaking of the website, which is still currently in its old form but still chock full of goodies, we still as ever continue to post new written reviews on https://retro-handhelds.com. So, if you're not checking those out, I mean, what's wrong with you? We have a new intern writer on the team who publishes some pretty readable material. He's no fungi, but he sure is a FUN GUY! *ba dum tsh* Ahem, well, anyway, yeah, he has like new reviews and stuff out. The RG405M? Yeah, he saw it, he played it, he reviewed it, but you'll have to go read his article to hear how it is, I'm not gonna spoil it.
Anyway, that's just about it for now. There's plenty of fun new exciting handhelds coming down the pipeline in the very near future. GPD Win 4s are starting to hit users' doorsteps, the Retroid Flip is... a thing that's happening apparently (Stubbs is over the moon for it), the KT-R1 might eventually actually exist, and so much more! Tune in to our Retro Handhelds News segments on Youtube (now bi-weekly), hosted by the one and only Stubbs, to be treated to all of those exciting updates.
With all that said, until next time just remember that Gary loves ya, Zu tolerates ya, and the rest of us exist somewhere on that spectrum. Stay hydrated!
PS: We hope you enjoyed our silly sandwich April fools gag, no we are not sponsored by Subway or any other corporate entity. Carry on!
