Patrons!
Hope you're all doing well!
We've been keeping busy at RH Central. Our second anniversary is right around the corner! We're going to be streaming a live recording of the Retro Handhelds podcast tomorrow, 8/9, at 8:00PM EST. Join us for some looking back on the last two years, light Q&A, and totally impromptu guest appearances (you?)! If you can't join us live, the Retro Handhelds Podcast feed is always available for your listening pleasure. Stubbs and Thor were recently joined on the show by Mr. Sujano, Retro Game Corps (3326 Livestream!) and The Phawx. We've got Good Enough For Me, Victor Iemini, and an AMA with Russ/RGC on the docket for this month and are looking forward to Wicked Gamer, and Taki episodes in September!
On the actual handheld side of things, we've been seeing unparalleled activity in these past few months! Windows handhelds are making a splash in a big way, and several new Android handhelds have been dropping details in the last few weeks. Our Upcoming Devices section now has a home for the KT R1c, the Ayn Loki, the Aokzoe A1, the Powkiddy x28, the Powkiddy x86, the Powkiddy RGB10 Max 3, the GPD Win Max 2, the Game Professor x3, multiple Aya Neo devices, the Retroid Pocket 3, and the Retropixel Pocket! (We promise we only made one of those up.) Whether you're waiting for an Ayn Odin Lite to land in your hands, or jumping on the Retroid Pocket 3 preorders, there's plenty to speculate about at the moment.
Of course, what good are all these handhelds if you're not going to play them? The Game of the Month and Game of the Week programs are continuing in full force! Another Chance August saw several prior nominations duke it out, with Ihatovo Mnogatri, Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, and 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors finally managing to get their day in the sun! If that isn't enough gaming for you, our Monster Hunter Midsummer event is still going on! We've been indulging in the PSP classic for these last few months, highlighting multiple community streams and online matchmaking sessions. We've been having a good turnout for this program and would like to hold another community event soon. Anyone know any other good monster-centric gaming franchises with opportunity for link play?
Speaking of community events, choosh has been hard at work organizing the second Retro Handhelds Community Music Jam! Bust out the synthesizer and show us your best renditions of the theme "Boss Rush!"
Thank you for your continued support of the Retro Handhelds community! Your support makes all of this possible! If this Patreon post is the first time you've heard of some of these programs, feel free to swing by our #pick_your_role channel and take a look at some of the latest additions. You can now subscribe to push notifications for GotM, the RH Podcast, and other RH events! We can't promise you @Thor! still won't @everyone though! ;-)
Until next time!
