HQ Mercenary Cards

Here's the start of my new Mercenaries card template, new mercs (also changed the original 4). Some of these have new weapons I haven't made yet for the armory.

For the Imperial Ogre, I'd like to give him some kinda of special rule about food. Any ideas?

The Shallya Priestess isn't done yet. I still need to figure out her spells.

Looking for some ideas on new mercs:

- I'd like to add a low level battle wizard. Any ideas on that?

- A merc that lets the hero draw 3 cards when searching for treasure ( draw 3 cards, choose 1 and put the other 2 back in the deck) (but if it's a wandering monster, you must take that card)

Also let me know about hire price. I based all the new mercs on the price of the originals and tried to balance their cost from there.

It is also worth remembering that there is an unofficial expansion, the mound of beastmen, which also uses a rule for man-at-arms like the one you mentioned. This expansion creates a new mechanic of interaction with mercenaries, you cannot hire mercenaries in the mound, but you can find them on the maps, according to the configuration of each of the 6 new quests, and you can take it with you to the next quest. , as long as you pay the letter. I found this mechanic very cool, if you don't know this unofficial expansion, it is by a Frenchman, known as Mpascal, created in 2013 if I'm not mistaken, it's really worth it.

No, that is normal heroquest rule. I dont know any of the rules for AHQ. Mercs started in the wizards of morcar and the frozen horror.

But this rule is from Advanced Heroquest? I´m asking because although I have the rules (and a print and play version), never read it... shame on me...

Well it depends on if you're playing the US version or the UK version. I think overall the US game system is better, but the merc rules are better in the UK version. In the US version you can have as many mercs as you can afford. They're use is 1 quest only, then for the next quest you have to rehire them. In the UK version you can only have 4 mercs, but they have an upkeep for rehire. If you want to use them for the next quest, you can only pay them 10 g to rehire (which i think is too cheap) In my rules update project im doing, im mostly using the UK merc rules, but instead of 10g, you pay half price.

Make the Ogre after fighting on a roll of the one he spends that round eating some poor goblin or orc he just killed and will not move

I dont know this mercenary rule.... How does it work? Where can I find the original cards/ rules?
