The new video features an all-new technology: Frame Interpolation!

Bloodborne runs at 30fps, even on the new PS5. As much as I despise 30fps BB is definitely worth playing but that didn't mean I couldn't do something about it in post.

There are many ways to automatically create complementary frames between original frames to make the video smooth. A lot of TVs already do this automatically. My tool of choice was a tool called Flowframes. It uses machine-learned interpolation AI to predict the frames in an acceptable amount of time.

Unfortunately, the AI was trained using real-life footage and anime, which means it does not do well with game UIs, causing artifacts whenever they appear.

Fortunately, after some manual labor, I've gotten the 60fps to work without too many artifacts by cropping the part of the screen that was giving trouble and replacing it with the original footage.

It's not perfect and I could not do this on all parts. But most of the boss health bar, name, and some of the item pickups have been fixed using this method.
