The Fox and the Lynx

I've known Krystal for what feels like a lifetime by now. Ever since Fox shot Fay and I a message about her joining his team after we left 2 vacant spots, we made it a point to make her a friend. That was almost 5 years ago and honestly, she is one hell of a fox.

Fay and I had, just after the Aparoid invasion, honorably discharged from the Defense Force with Pepper's blessing, on the condition we re-join with Star Fox. We ran so damn many ops with them, it was as if we were still part of the team. I didn't see a problem with that deal and neither did Fay... hell, it seemed Krystal was all for that idea too.

In the reality of it all, we re-joined at a scarce time. Ever since the Aparoids 4 years back it's been absolutely quiet in Lylat with the occasional deployment out to military outposts on Katina or even as far as Aquas. These were mainly training, but Krystal, Fay, and I found ways to make it fun for us regardless- ladies night out in the commons, hanging out on Great Fox in our quarters, heading into one of the cities on either planets for some R&R, whatever we could think of.

Lately, though, I've been getting some weird feelings...

"Krys, hun, you gotta tell us what's with you and McCloud..." I mused to the blue vixen as she was sitting at the foot of my bed. I was in my lounging chair at the corner of the room with Fay simply sitting on the floor, ears perked up at my question to Krystal.

Earlier we made a run into the major city, Alora, near the outpost we were contracted to help. I of course grabbed us some drinks for us to have over some good old' fashioned chit chat with the girls.

She blushed so damn hard you could see it through her thick blue fur, "What do you mean?" as she turned away slightly.

Fay looked over to Krystal with a massive smile on her face "Come on! Miyu's right-..."

"Course I am!" I uttered abruptly, "Everyone knows ya got feelings for him... and everyone knows he does to you... INCLUDING you Ms. Reads-Thoughts."

She looked at me with a frown, "Come now, you know I refrain from reading anyone's intentions out of respect for their privacy."

I took a swig of the alcohol I was drinking, "You mean to tell me you haven't once just... ambiently felt his emotions towards you? Hell anyone's emotions?"

Krystal sighed, "Okay fine, it's true at times if I'm not focused I can feel everyone's emotions. I'm quick to get it back in control, but, I won't lie and say I haven't felt some form from Fox."

"Ooooo" I cooed, "Told ya!"

The alcohol was kinda making me a little more loose than I was intending to be... the same went for Krystal and the dreaded lightweight known as Fay.

We sat around talking for what felt like hours- talking about the past, what we think for the future, about mundane things like what shows we were watching and what not, we even chatted up a storm about the new line of Cornerian C-50 fighters. You never woulda thought, but Krystal was quite the tech aficionado- Slippy taught her the in's and out's of maintenance for the Arwing's and she's took it upon herself to learn even more. Becoming more and more like both Fay and I- a real grease monkey.

At this point I was, embarrassingly, tipsy.

So was Krystal.

Poor Fay was just flat our drunk. We gave her some anti-alch and helped her back to her room. She needed the rest and to let the meds kick in to at least make her rest of the night sleep-able. Krystal and I, however, went back to my room.

That's when the feelings, ones I've always had for Krystal, started to get a little mixed up.

Don't get me wrong, I love Krystal- she's an amazing friend. But I just couldnt shake this feeling of... attachment? I didn't know, I didn't want to dwell on it any more with my mind having been poisoned with so much alcohol.

We got back to the room and I headed for my bathroom, "I'll be just a little"

I closed the door and started to run the sink. Pooling water into my hands and splashing it onto my face to try and snap me out of my drunken state. Looking up into the mirror I shook my head, "Get it together, girl". I splashed more water onto my face and took a deep breath.

I turned to the door and let it slide open, only to be met with Krystal waiting on the other side with this look on her face. A look of evil, a look of trickery, and a look of determination.

Suddenly, she stepped forward and leaned in to me... planting her lips firmly onto mine and pushing us further into the bathroom.

"I'm sorry... I... I couldn't help but feel it..." Krystal softly said as she retracted from my lips, "... I said I keep to myself but..."

I leaned back in and interrupted her mid sentence with another kiss. More passionate than the last- my arms wrapped around her body as hers slowly made their way around mine. Her lips were so soft and her fur even softer than I had imagined. My mind was exploding with excitement and fear. Was I doing the right thing? Am I just drunk?

Krystal slowly retracted, "You know, a nice shower would us a world of help..."

I nodded in agreement, "Yeah... yeah it would, wouldn't it?" ...
