Anim IV Project WIP 2

As you guys know, I'm in the process of creating an animation for my final animation class before graduation. Before animating, though, the environment needs to be modeled! 

A while back I had created a fully fledged city that was my idea of Corneria, it was simple but took me almost 6 months to do. This new project is about 4 months into development and is much larger and more detailed than the last with influences from Star Citizen and Cyberpunk 2077 (larger more cramped cities). 

This is the second WIP for the project- showcasing the main central areas and the massive mountain range, completed! 

Notice a few things such as the floor- it's a texture to help me with placing things, such as the highway (white line on the left), beach, and water. Now the overall size ratio of the buildings- they look as such because the city itself is the backdrop, as such they don't need to be accurately spaced and sized since, to the viewer, they will already appear as such. 


Plans for the project (modeling aspect of it):

- Make the mountains that are closer to the city elevated with falloff cliffs

- Populate the empty grey area with a 'suburbs' model (very low poly box made to look like countless small houses and buildings)

- Model the main 'Starport' that the animation takes place in (this area will be more detailed, obviously)


Plans for the project (animation aspect of it):

- Have a ship (not an Arwing, an original design) be the main attraction, flying in and landing

- Animate the landing platform with moving parts

- Rain! Lots of rain o.o 

- Pilot character will jump out and simply walk off camera


The project is ambitious, probably too ambitious for being only me working on it. I expect high quality, but I do have fears that I just don't have the creative capacity to deliver on such an expectation. Despite this, I'm pushing forward and I'm super excited to finally get this done and show it off to everyone!
