Where have I been lately?
Added 2024-10-02 12:31:52 +0000 UTCDear fans & Patrons!
I'm sorry that I have been a little bit quiet & inactive recently. Due to the MOS project widening its scope this year with touring, physical media etc... I have been completely overwhelmed recently with the management side of the project and have not had enough mental headspace to create anything new.
I could feel a big burnout coming recently and so now I finally have started to work with a management company and outsource some of that side of MOS. They are great guys who also manage Jonathan Young, Colm McGuinness, Annapatsu & Anthony Vincent:
https://www.bands.management
Until now, I've been managing all of the following by myself:
- Music distribution for spotify, itunes, youtube, socials etc etc...
- Copyright protection across youtube, social media & streaming services (which is a constant never ending pain in the ass)
- Royalty collection & management
- Analytics monitoring & actioning
- Various clerical office work
- Dealing with record labels, tour agency & sponsorship clients,
- Social media management & engagement - Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok, Twitter etc etc...
- Sponsored songs (more about this later)
- Being a curator for the endless noise filling up my inboxes, like permission requests, cover versions, remixes etc etc etc
- Merchandise, artwork, videos etc
- Website maintanence
- Tax, book keeping, VAt etc...
I have also been Organising all the tour stuff by myself, including:
- Trying to sort people out to manage accommodation, busses, drivers, flights, food etc...
- Sound team, stage techs etc
- Sorting out merchandise at the shows,
- Band rehearsals
- Organising sound gear, instruments, etc...
- Sorting out advertising materials, flyers, posters etc
- Managing itineraries, guestlists, & sound checks
- Managing press & photographers at the shows
- Booking the sound team,
- Dealing with promoters,
- International tax laws etc etc.
- Social media promotion
As you can imagine, all of the above is just too much for one person to do while still making songs.
So now with most of that in the hands of the team, I will hopefully have a lot more time to go back to being creative and make some cool new stuff for ye <3
It's also nice to have someone in my corner in terms of any disputes, disagreements or other issues I might run into in the future, that historically have been very hard to deal with all alone.
I miss making music! I have a fantastic project planned which will be dark Irish/Celtic inspired folk/metal album, as well the Grainne Mhaol remake with Piper Ally (which is mixed & mastered now) and two new videogame songs in the next few months :)
Also, our Europe tour tickets are now all on sale: https://ffm.live/miracleofsoundlive
All the best

Take care of yourself, Gav ! You are, first and foremost, an artist, and nobody expects you to handle all the financial and organizational aspect of your work by yourself. Honestly, I can't even begin to imagine how you have been dealing with all this, it must have been so exhausting. It's great that now you'll have some people to help you with that, and you'll have a little more breathing room.

2024-10-02 14:37:22 +0000 UTCIts okay with me, man. You're out there doing work; I don't need to have you constantly brief me just because I think your work justifies me tossing you a few bucks.
