Using Amber’s Atlas Battlemaps in Commercial Products

The commercial licence is available to all active patrons. As such you can use the maps available to your tier for commercial purposes. It is also a requirement that you must not have your monthly pledge limit set in order to use the commercial licence.

To use my battlemaps in your adventures, supplements, modules, or other published materials you must use a watermarked version of the battlemaps.

The Amber’s Atlas watermark is available in the attachments of this post, in black or white versions.

The watermark must be placed at the bottom of the map, covering at least one-third of the map width. (See below for reference)

These maps are for reference only within the text and the non-watermarked battlemaps themselves are not for distribution alongside the product unless permission is given specifically by myself.

Attribution

When using the battlemaps for commercial purposes, the following must be included:

- my name in the credits as a cartographer or under some other relevant title (“Cartography by Amber’s Atlas” or "Battlemaps by Amber’s Atlas") with a link to "patreon.com/ambersatlas"

- A link to "patreon.com/ambersatlas" beneath or beside the battlemap or in another prominent location near the battlemap.

If the map is being posted online in a digital marketplace, this attribution must be in the description/credits section.

Applicable Artwork

All of the battlemaps provided on Amber’s Atlas Patreon are available for commercial use, except for any map made in collaboration with another artist.

(There are none currently, but in future a list of collaboration battlemaps will be provided here for reference)

The commercial use licence only includes my Battlemaps. Assets, modular rooms, props, tokens and other illustrative works are not part of the commercial licence, unless permission has been given specifically by myself.

Notification of Use

If you intend to use any of my battlemaps for commercial purposes then please inform me, via the contact options stated in Information.

If you have further questions regarding use then you can contact me through these channels as well.

Restrictions on Use

The battlemaps are available only for use within other publications, for example: adventures, modules, world building and character supplements, etc. the maps themselves are not available for rehosting or resale as standalone items.

In addition:

1. You may not recolour, resize to alter proportions, modify, adapt, or disassemble the battlemaps in a way that distorts the original. The exception to this is to desaturate the maps for greyscale/black and white publications.

2. You may not use our battlemaps as the basis for any other physical or digital merchandise or promotional items, such as but not limited to t-shirts, greeting cards, mugs, posters, prints, etc.

3. You cannot use the battlemaps (in whole or in part) as a trademark, service mark, logo, or other indication of origin, or as part thereof, or to otherwise endorse or imply the endorsement of any goods and/or services.

4. You are not authorised to sub-license, sell, or lease the battlemaps, nor may you temporarily or permanently transfer your rights under this agreement to a third party. This includes displaying the maps in any format for download on a website, offering the maps for sale, or otherwise for distribution and/or sale to third parties.

5. Use of the battlemaps in a way that can be considered generally offensive, obscene or immoral is strictly prohibited. This means the battlemaps are not available within any material that promotes racism, homophobia, transphobia or bigotry of any kind.

6. Use of the battlemaps in such a way that it appears Amber’s Atlas endorses your product.

7. There should be at least an estimated 1000 words per map used.

Exceptions for Streaming

If you plan to use my battlemaps in a video, stream or podcast then you do not need to obtain this licence and you may use the non-watermarked versions of the battlemaps on your streams. Furthermore, you do not need to notify me of your stream, but you may do so on my Discord.

If you are using our battlemaps for streaming purposes then the rules under Attribution still need to be adhered to (a link to my Patreon and credit in the video description section).

You are also required to be a patron of the tier of battlemaps you're using whilst your video content is online.

Patreon Subscription Deactivation

If you decide to cancel your subscription/stop being an active Patron, then the commercial licence is subject to change under the following circumstances:

Published materials: It is not required to remove already published materials, but you cannot create new published materials based on maps acquired.

Streaming, Video, Podcast: Whilst your video content is online, you must be an active Patron on the specific map’s tier. If you were to deactivate your Patron subscription, then the video materials must be taken offline.

Further Use Requests

If you would like to use the non-watermarked versions of the battlemaps in your commercial products or to print the full-resolution battlemaps alongside your commercial products then please contact me directly and seek explicit permission.

I will only offer this on a case-by-case basis and expect either a flat sum offer or profit share offer in the email.

Maps will not be available for exclusive use under any circumstance.
