Eventually the lonely and impatient Harlequins began tearing off chunks of themselves that would eventually grow into their own diminutive clown "Children". Gremlins have an innate desire to disassemble machinery from nuts and bolts to nanotechnology. Hephaestus tech and ships have been especially susceptible to gremlin infestation.
