Howdy everyone!

I apologize for the last-minute post, but I have some last-minute news. The next demo is going to be delayed for a few days as I have to suddenly take a flight to attend a family member’s funeral. As before, I’ll be away from my PC and won’t be able to work on much outside of some writing when I have free time. I apologize for the inconvenience!

As for what we’ve worked on so far, currently we’re tackling the first part of a Salandit-Weavile story, finally putting the CGs posted months ago to use. The first section will center on learning about Salandit and Weavile’s history together and the reason for animosity between them. This current section will have Salandit draw the short end of the stick in the exchange, but you’ll be able to get one over Weavile in the next section and give him what he deserves!

We don’t have any of the CGs or other resources ready to show just yet, but that’s what’s currently in the works.

But as for things we are able to show, I have been working on an update to the inventory (and to some items). The original idea was for the toy chest to slowly fill up with items, forming a pile of stuff that slowly fills the chest. As novel as the idea was, it made some items, particularly small ones, harder to click as the more items surrounded it, leaving us to throw it off to the side for ease of clicking. We’ll be going for a more traditional inventory system that you’ll find in most games instead. Boring, but practical.

Some items will also be considered ‘Key Items’, specifically…the keys. I can imagine a situation where you’d have to go back and forth from the toy chest to get the key to unlock a door, but then have to go back to pick up an item that you need to bring for whatever you’re planning to do on the other side. Instead, Key Items will be treated as if they’re always in your inventory.

I also made a small transition at the beginning of the scene where you part the toys away inside the toy chest to reveal the bottom (and your inventory). Hopefully it doesn’t end up becoming too much of a handful to have to do it every time you want to open the chest, but at least the toy chest doesn’t seem empty anymore!

Once this has been properly implemented, I will be making changes to all the Day 1 content that requires you to pick up and use some of the items that are now considered key items. Hopefully this should be the last time I have to retool something in that side of the available content in a while.

I’m so sorry to hear about the passing! I hope the grief is relatively short! Take all the time you need! Excited for the coming update! Also you could do the toy chest inventory idea if you want! You could have a set amount of items on like a page and scroll through them. You could also do like a coloring book inventory with the items drawn out in a like crude crayon style! Just a thought! :D! 💖
