Everstone Daycare - Progress Report (Dec. 18, 2021)

After a busy first few days of the week followed by 2 more days without internet, I'm finally able to give you guys a look at our progress on the next project. I'm not sure how often I'll be able to make progress reports like these, as the progress of the project is determined by the scheudles of me, Tennet, and Spooky, the latter of whom have other full time commitments. I'll try to make a progress report whenever there are any significant updates to the project though.

We have settled on the finalized title for the game as  Everstone Daycare (referencing the item of the same name which prevents Pokemon from evolving or 'growing up' in a sense haha.) The logo that will be used for the game can be seen on the post image as well, based off of an old design of Spooky's. The next image shows the text box design that we will be using, including buttons for accessing the features from the expanded version of 'A Night with Mr. Blacke' (such as a backlog and volume controls) as well as a new button to toggle the game into Fullscreen mode. If you have any feedback for either design, please state it down below!

As for the game itself, the general premise of the game is 'You have been unwittingly transformed into a Pokemon and sent off to Everstone Daycare by a mysterious figure, and you only have a limited time to try to escape or be trapped in the daycare as a Pokemon forever!'. 

We've also decided to take on more of a Point-and-Click direction rather than a purely Visual Novel one. The elements and stylings of a VN will still be there, but rather than going through a linear story, we want it to give people the ability to explore parts of the building on their own to try to find the solution to the puzzle of 'How do I escape?' while trying trying to avoid (or intentionally move towards) the kinky scenarios present in the facility. How far we'll be able to push the towards Point-and-Click is still up in the air but one feature we do intend to make good on is being able to move from room to room on your own.

This will be fairly experimental compared to my previous project, and will involve some creativity on my part on how to get the engine to do the things I want it to do. We intend the playtime of the game to be be longer than 'A Night with Mr. Blacke' but not overly long as to require multiple sessions (ideally).
