OBS Studio 27.2 is now in beta testing!

Hey there, 27.2 is nearing completion, and beta builds are currently available for testing, if you don't have a critical stream and are willing to test out these versions for us, you can get them here! If you have any issues, please let us know in the #beta-testing channel of our Discord server or in our 27.2 forum thread.

Added native support for AJA devices

Thanks to the AJA team and DDRBoxman, we've now added native support for AJA devices, both for sources and output. This should improve performance when using AJA devices.

Added blend modes to sources

Blend modes are a pretty cool little feature by Github user jw0z96 that allow you to change how a source blends with the background behind it. Normally, it would just paint on top, but now you can make sources blend similar to how Photoshop works: Add, Subtract, Screen, Multiply, Lighten, Darken. To use this, just right-click a source and go to "Blending Mode" in the right-click context menu (oh wonderful, more context menu items).

Updated Chromium version for the Browser Source

Due to a specific feature of the browser source, the browser source (at least on Windows) was stuck on Chromium 75 (3770) for the longest time, and thanks to amazing developers in both the CEF and OBS communities, we managed to update it to 95 (4638), which as of this writing is only behind the mainline Chrome release by one version. Thank goodness. Please let us know if there are any issues with browser sources.

New Dependencies

We've updated almost all of our dependencies to their latest versions, particularly x264 and FFmpeg. These new dependencies should improve performance with software encoding. Please let us know if you have any issues that you didn't have before!

Experimental AV1 Support

Speaking of new dependencies, in the recording settings of advanced output mode, you can now select AOM AV1 and SVT-AV1 software encoders. These are fun experimental additions I made because I wanted to update the program to support AV1 and push the industry towards AV1 a bit more. Note that you need to use MKV, and you probably should have at least 8 or more physical cores in your CPU, otherwise your CPU might not be able to keep up with encoding. Another note that's probably important is that SVT-AV1 will allocate about 2 gigs of RAM while it's being used, so I don't recommend using it unless you have a lot of RAM in your system.

And a whole bunch more

I changed some things internally for the sake of improving program stability; this will affect switching scene collections and program shutdown. Please let us know if changing scene collections or program shutdown has any new issues.

There were also a whole bunch of other changes and bug fixes that probably weren't mentioned here. Check out the patch notes for the rest of the changes!

Thanks for all the help! Again, please let us know if you have any issues in the beta testing channel or in the forum thread above.

Yeh, but I wanted it on the Stream Deck without being tied to the keyboard. Because if you are not clicked on the OBS recording software it triggers whatever you last clicked on. I have to contact the Stream Deck people. Thanks for responding :-)

You could use a shortcut key - bind it to f14 or something. Almost anything can be shortcutted in obs

Ok...I worked it out..."SYSTEM" on Stream Deck :-I Many thanks for this fine software.

Hugh, do you have a "Suggestion" post? I would really like a button I can use on my Stream Deck for pause and un pause. Would make a world of difference. $50 bonus from me. You have start and stop. Have I missed something? Because I cannot see any way to make puse and un pause go onto my stream deck. Thanks. talpiot@protonmail.com

Blend mode sounds really interesting, thanks for the updates!
