That's what I think too, my friend. Whether it was 'rational' or not, Roy just defaulted to 'get to Claudia no matter what'. The more I think about it the more heartbreaking it really is. And I completely agree about the animation!

2024-08-20 12:49:21 +0000 UTCI’m marathoning these episodes like crazy trying to catch up (syncing your videos with my iTunes copy) and your reaction near the end of the episode got to me. For myself it’s Lisa delivering the news that crushes me, the voice acting is absolutely perfect. Melanie MacQueen can nail emotion like no other. As for why he didn’t go to the hospital, here’s my head canon: Roy just wanted to be with Claudia. Maybe he knew he was dying, I dunno, but if so then he’d just want to be around her one last time. WRT the animation, it still blows my mind that it’s all done by hand. It’s near inhuman what those animators accomplished in the very early 1980’s when the original was made.
