Robocop (1987) - Film Review

In this episode I examine the 1987 film by Paul Verhoeven, the classic, Robocop. In this review I look at the film itself, how it fits into American film making after the collapse of the studio system and the brief flourishing the independent spirit of the 1970s, the reactionary films of that period and the tradition of the western.

Outro music is an orchestral version of the Robocop theme composed by Basil Poledouris.

Random movie review reccomendation: "Scum" with Ray Winstone. Bet you've seen that one.

Alexander, I HIGHLY recommend 'Flesh+Blood'. It made me appreciate Paul Verhoeven all the more for tackling a setting and subject matter that the film industry seems to bizarrely ignore as an unwritten rule - The Thirty Years' War and the chaos, violence, and fallout of the Reformation. Very grim stuff at times, but well worth it!

A great review of a great film. I first watched it when it came out on VHS to rent in 1989. It’s one of the best films of the 1980s and I’ve seen it at least thirty times.
