Patrons Edition - Questions of Sovereignty

In the first of our new patrons shows the question of sovereignty is examined. I doing so we look at the theories around the decline of sovereignty since the 1980s and why these are inadequate in understanding what sovereignty means when it comes to imperialist nations and why communists need to have a proper understanding of this.

Hello Alex, I have a question that has been on my mind for quite a while: What is the proper Marxist-Leninist approach to the issue of population control/overpopulation? As an admirer of Thomas Robert Malthus, Margaret Sanger, and others, I wonder how the issue of population can be reconciled (if at all) with scientific socialism? I know Marx criticized Malthus, but would you be able to expand upon Marx’s critique and explain the proper approach to the question? — Thanks

Thank you Alex. My head’s often mulling around ideas on sovereignty/national self-sufficiency, but you spelling it out in words has (hopefully) clarified my understanding. I started reading Tony Norfield’s book, but have been diverted to others (& am painfully slow reader). I’m grateful to not have been enticed back into Labour Party since leaving around 2000, since when I’ve had no interest in reformism (if I ever did). I neither understood nor got excited about Brexit & am relieved my Remain vote was ineffective. I sometimes communicate with a local, reactionary, racist, horsey woman (a friend of a friend), who is a fan of Farage & Tice, but have never been able to comprehend her motivation. Thank you for explaining. The catastrophe of the destruction of Nordstream is monumental. Power to the People!
