Thanks for your interesting answer to my question. I think the 'echo chamber' response works well for the idpol issues. I think there's a little more to be said about theory when it comes to imperialism and economic issues, though. For example, opportunist justifications of imperialist wars draw on Marxist theory, yet arrive at wildly--not just a little--different conclusions than non-opportunists. Even the attitude towards the COVID regime seems to involve not just a failure to take working-class interests and desires into account, but also differences in how to understand the relation between the base and the superstructure, affecting issues like the proper attitude to take towards the biomedical establishment and the media, for example.
