Any thoughts about Radhika Desai's scholarship? I find her differences with Michael Hudson to be very interesting and she seems a much stronger Marxist (maybe even MList) compared to Hudson.

I have a background of having communists on both sides of my family (Iraqi and English) and grew up in Iraq until I was 14 when Saddam first came to power. Communists where numerous across the Arab world at that time, but their influence declined as resistance to the West took place via encouraging religious identities (that have also been encouraged by Western powers to bolster resistance to the spread of communism). Too much history to unpack in a question, but I would be interested in your perspective. You have a great skill of boiling complex questions into the essential building blocks to help understand some of the dialectical dynamics involved.
