October-November 2021 Progress Report is out!

Hey folks! Just wanted to let you know that a couple days ago I posted a new progress report for the project! Sorry that this one took so long; we've been very busy with upstreaming kernel work :-)

2022 is definitely going to be a very interesting year for the project! A lot of the groundwork is getting wrapped up, and that means we'll soon move on to things like the GPU and video accelerators. Stay tuned!

As always, thank you so much for supporting this project. It is thanks to all of you that I can afford to work on this project most of my time, and purchase hardware like the new M1 Max/Pro machines. We now have near feature parity for them, and it's all thanks to you!

Time for another update maybe?

Great work! Let's chat what needed to be successful ...

thanks for your work!

Good to know - also about firmware updates. ...I'm not that familiar with terminology related to M1 macs & searches about linux dualboot moved quickly to using VMs, but I don't want that; OS X is actually pretty good environment for a programmer, but there are those rare cases where I really want to use core affinity, and OS X does not want me to. Post-Christmas shopping for me :D

Dual-boot has been supported from the start. It's a native feature of these machines. We expect most users to use the machines that way, at least initially, since you'll need macOS for certain firmware upgrades and such.

Doing that eventually is the plan, just need to clean up the table a bit :-)

Thanks for heads-up - have been considering new macbook pro, but got disgusted by some things they added to OS X. ...But also wondering about couple of apps that won't be coming to linux... OR am I reading too much - can one dualboot between OS X and linux?

The new progress report was a great read, as usual! Thank you :) The compatibility/support matrix down in the blog post is a super useful overview of the project status. Would it be a good idea to have it displayed somewhere prominently on the Asahi website?
