As a final one-shot farewell for a group that had been playing together for just over five years, I gave them all pre-made level 20 characters and ran them through "The Tomb of Horrors" module. If you're unfamiliar with that, it was the first "tournament module" created for D&D by Gary Gygax himself and is incredibly brutal - meant to be a "whoever survives longest wins" kind of dungeon run for the 1975 Origins Con. Absolutely got ugly, in all the hilarious ways a good game of D&D can. 😂

2023-05-03 07:42:37 +0000 UTCI've ran a few high level games as a GM, and played in one or two. They can be really fun! As a player, the most recent high level characters I had were a brother and sister that I alternated between in a Rise of the Runelords campaign for Pathfinder 1st edition. We never quite finished the campaign because of Covid and work interruptions, but we were level 15 when we left off with it, getting ready to do the final battles!
