It feels similar in the sense of reading the room and knowing that sometimes, you're helping by not trying to grab the spotlight, as it were.

2025-08-08 14:53:32 +0000 UTCTo get out of long winded convos at parties, what works for me all the time is I make eye contact and smile at someone not in the convo who will then interrupt with short pleasantries. To preface, I was raised Irish Catholic and these are my own thoughts, I do not intend to diminish anyone's beliefs. I think there's multiple levels of sympathetic communication people rely on to interact and it's these levels of subliminal communication which have been used to affirm spiritualism and occultism. My family for generations has strongly believed they've had "the sight" or "the third eye" when I believe they've just been more perceptive or able to register more subliminal interpersonal clues than the rest of family. The brain's magical and not to be underestimated
