2025-01-11 23:54:18 +0000 UTCReplying to long turners! I play a Sorcerer in a Vecna campaign, and without fail, our Barbarian takes 3 minutes to figure out what he’s going to do. “Do I Rage? I don’t know…” sort of thing. I’ve responded by one of the mentioned solutions, the “be as fast as possible with my turn”. It’s been a great exercise for me to REALLY plan ahead, have Action/BA spell combos handy, and create fun descriptions of my spells ahead of sessions to speed things along.

2025-01-10 19:52:57 +0000 UTCregarding the legendary reaction, I think they should have said like "oh sorry guys I've been forgetting about their legendary actions" but other than that they're good imo. the monster was homebrewed so the rules aren't going to be exact, so I'm ok with it being a reaction even though official monsters aren't that way. it's just part of the fun of discovering a unique enemy, but there could've been slightly more grace in regard to communication. the comment the player made did seem antagonistic, like there should ALWAYS be the expectation that your character could die and to me the issue was not that big a deal

My mom and my sister started bringing a second deck of cards to the table and playing a two-person card game together on his turns. It pissed him off and was hilarious. Like yeah, you've got to be the bad guy sometimes and that's that, but to also be handling the meta-table social stuff and having to sidebar with players and ask them to go faster? Kind of sucks from a responsibility standpoint. I like DMing, I don't love having to be table-dad too
